Easy to install and program
Easy to install and program. Since installation, it seems to be doing its job effectively. Longevity is yet to be seen, but so far, so good.

Works perfect!
I had 10 year old-$6000 Rainsoft water treatment system that became obsolete and useless. This occurred over $59 in broken parts, after the Rainsoft dealers in my service area went out of business and I couldn’t get the mothership “Rainsoft.com” to help me out. Additionally, there isn’t a non affiliated plumber that can touch the unit since they can’t get the proprietary parts. My prayers were answered when I discovered this product. It was a perfect fit and after I installed it and ran a full regeneration, it is producing beautiful water again. This $100 product just saved me $2400 that I was quoted for a new generic (way less quality) water softener. Don’t hesitate to buy if this is a match for your water softener unit.

Pre-Installation Check Required
So far, so good on the valve, however, there is a Lessons Learned that could save you some softener resin. I used it out of the box on my 10" tank residential softener. First cycle resulted in the loss of a lot of resin fines. My check revealed that the drain button (DLFC) was supplied as 7 gpm and the brine button (BLFC) was supplied as 1.0 gpm. These are sizes used for larger commercial systems and the larger drain flow will carryover resin. For my residential system, I am moving my original 2.4 gpm DLFC and 0.5 gpm BLFC. No idea if the larger configuration is standard for this item or we receive it randomly. Recommend anyone using this as an in-kind replacement check this out first before running a cycle.

It's a basic inexpensive replacement for a failed water softener head, with a caveat
This head is as basic as it gets. No bells and whistles. No ability to adjust the times of the various functions like the SXT provides. It's basic, but it does work. The one downside, which I'm glad I knew about by reading others reviews is that the DLFC (Drian Line Flow Control) is too big for a residential softener. I monitored it as it ran its first cycle and yep, it was spitting out a lot of resin. Not good. The label said it had a 7 GPM DLFC, but when I pulled it out it was really an 8 GPM DLFC. I checked my broken Fleck head and found it had a 2.4 GPM DLFC. I replaced the 8 in the new head with the 2.4 from the old head and low and behold, no more loss of resin. If you buy this head and you're not replacing another Fleck type head that you can get the smaller DLFC from it to use, you should buy one or risk losing some of your softener's capacity. One additional note, the next day my water was pretty dirty for the first 50 gallons or so. What that told me is that the 2.4 hasn't been flowing as much as it needed to in order to truly flush the resin, and the 8 really sturred it up. I've since bought a 4.0 DLFC in the hopes of finding one that doesn't flow so much that it spits out a lot of resin, but enough that does a better job of cleaning the softener. Keep in mind that my resin tank is 12" due to its 60k capacity. The 2.4 may be plenty for you have a 8-10" tank with a 32k or less capacity. Good luck.
