This was very inexpensive to buy. The people who put this out are really today's heroes in music, sorting out and preserving a history that can easily get lost forever. It deserve 5 stars. I have given 4 for a number of reasons.First off, I generally do not like box sets because of the risk in getting a defective CD. Be sure to buy from either Amazon or a dealer that is refund only, or a dealer that will send out another one before you send the bad one back. This way you can swap out the bad disc for a good one. And yes, I did get a disc in here that jumped, but it was so inexpensive, I just bought a replacement for it, since luckily it was still available as a single disc.Another reason I give it 4 is that the sound is a bit driven up. This is not exactly audiophile sound. But neither is it bad, if you are not using audiophile speakers, or if you are, you know how to use an equalizer.I took this whole box and redubbed it onto tape bringing the levels down, and now it sounds really nice. No more annoying mid-range and excessive treble.By the way, I cannot believe I have taken this kind of music this far. Go read my reviews of Grand 12 Inches 1. This can be quite exciting music. I did not like it in its own time, and I still have mixed feelings about it. But I can hear the funk and soul lineage in it, and that makes it interesting for me.
