Seamless Xbox storage expansion — can't tell the difference from internal SSD
Running out of internal Xbox Series X storage is less a question of if and more a question of when, especially with modern game install sizes that treat 100GB like a reasonable Tuesday. The WD Black C50 is the right solution and the officially licensed design means it works exactly like the internal SSD without the performance compromises that come with external USB storage workarounds. The speed parity with the internal SSD is the headline and it delivers on that claim in real world use. Games load just as fast from the C50 as they do from the internal drive — no perceptible difference in load times, no texture streaming issues, no Quick Resume delays that would tip you off that the game is living on expansion storage rather than internal. If Microsoft's proprietary expansion card slot spec is going to cost a premium, at least it delivers the performance that justifies it. Quick Resume works correctly across games stored on the C50 without the session loss that plagues external USB storage solutions. Switch between multiple suspended games stored on the card and come back exactly where you left off without reloading — the way Quick Resume is supposed to work and frequently doesn't with non-certified storage solutions. Plug and play installation is exactly as described. Slot it into the expansion port on the back of the Series X or S, console recognizes it immediately, move or install games to it. No formatting process, no setup menu navigation, no driver situation. Just works. 2TB is the right capacity call — enough headroom to stop making hard decisions about which games to keep installed without paying the premium for storage you don't need yet. For any Xbox Series X or S owner who has stared at the storage management screen one too many times, this is the clean solution. Highly recommended.

Great Upgrade For Series X
I picked up the WD BLACK Expansion Card for my Xbox Series X because I was constantly running out of storage, and it’s been a great upgrade. Installation was basically plug-and-play just slide it into the expansion slot and the Xbox recognizes it right away. Game loading feels just as fast as the internal storage, and I like being able to move larger games over without worrying about losing performance. It’s especially nice with newer games that take up 100+ GB. If you have a Series X and keep running out of storage, this is definitely worth considering. It’s simple to install, fast, and works exactly like you’d expect.

Truly plug-and-play—works seamlessly with Xbox
I bought this storage expansion card because I needed more space on my Xbox, and it has been exactly what I was looking for. Installation couldn't have been easier. I simply plugged the card into the Xbox, and it was ready to use. There was no complicated setup or troubleshooting involved, and the Xbox recognized it right away. Games run from the expansion card just as expected, and the Quick Resume functionality works seamlessly. I haven't experienced any issues with games being stored or accessed from the additional storage. For me, the biggest advantage is simply how easy it is. It feels like an integrated part of the Xbox rather than an external device I have to constantly manage. If you're running out of Xbox storage and want something that's genuinely plug-and-play, this has been an excellent solution for me. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and has worked flawlessly so far.

Works perfectly fine, it’s fast and small.

Works well, the only thing I would've done differently would be to get one with more storage
This is exactly what it says it is, works right out of the box and you can save your games to it and play them from it.

Worth it if you have a base Series S. Don’t fall for the cloud gaming hype!
Bought this back in November and it’s been rock solid ever since. Speeds are super fast! it’s literally plug and play. Just slide it in and your Xbox Series S or X picks it up instantly. Quick Resume works flawlessly too. Some people say storage like this is useless now that Xbox is pushing cloud gaming, but that really depends on your setup. If you’re like me and using a base Series S, you’ll quickly run out of space. Want to have COD and Forza installed at the same time? You’re gonna need something like this. Cloud gaming is only realistic if you live near the right servers and have ultra-fast, low-latency internet which is not exactly common for everyone. I’m glad I snagged it on sale. Not the cheapest at full price, but totally worth it for the convenience. I love being able to store and pre-install games from my phone even when I’m not at my setup. Read/write speeds are lightning fast, and it even comes with a free Game Pass trial. Between that and Xbox’s backwards compatibility, you can pack hundreds of games onto this little thing. Neat.

Great but expensive
It works great. I'm able to play whatever games I want on this unlike an external drive. Only downside is the price. It's too expensive for the amount of storage you get, but ultimately it's worth it if you find yourself having to re-download games or transfer them constantly from an external device.

Fast, easy, storage expansion for Xbox X/S. Unfortunately, affected by chip shortage price increases
I have the original 1 TB Xbox Series X, and with the size of modern games, I quickly ran out of storage. With the upcoming release of GTA 6, I needed to make sure I had plenty of storage. I mostly game on my PC, but with GTA 6 coming to consoles initially, I pulled the trigger on this expansion card. Installation was as simple as plugging it into one of the expansion slots in the back of the Series X, and then making sure that it was recognized by the console. You do need to choose how you want format it (portable storage where you remove to put in other consoles, or treat it like a "permanent" storage expansion. The benefit to this over a USB storage device is that this expansion card will read and write at the same (or close enough) speeds as the internal storage, which is necessary for the Series X/S to play games specifically for the X/S. Xbox One and older games are fine to play on an external hard drive (both in HDD and SSD form), but X/S specific games need to run either on the internal storage or one of the expansion cards such as this WD. The only downside is the price. I bought this for $150 before the current memory chip shortage, so unfortunately at the time of me writing this review, it is significantly more expensive. Given that all storage and RAM prices have skyrocketed, this is still one of your better options, just keep in mind you are paying an elevated price for it.
