BIONA Organic Red Kidney Beans 350g (PACK OF 6)

I am not a fan of beans in general but in an attempt to eat a more balanced diet I thought I'd better give beans another go. I tried a variety of beans from my local supermarket and found flageolet beans to be the most palatable. Then the supermarket stopped selling them, I saw these on Amazon and although they were a tad expensive I have had Biona almond butter and found it to be superior to other makes so I decided to give it a go. Wow, what a revelation, they are really nice, better by far than any of the tinned ones. The jar opens fairly easily and the beans are well packed in. They are surrounded by thick salted water. I can't stand anything goey so I rinsed them well. I made a bean salad with fresh green beans, spring onions, tuna and grilled asparagus and added the rinsed beans mixed with a little oil, pepper and lemon juice - truly wonderful. The beans are soft and have a good colour and once the goo is rinsed off they have a clean taste and a nice texture. As I will probably use them more for salads than in cooking I don't mind paying a little extra as the quality really shows. I might try some of the other Biona beans to see if they are more palatable than the ones I got from the supermarket - I wish they did a mixed 6 pack.

THE DATE ON THE JAR IS DECEMBER 2023. The beans arrived and fortunately I noticed that the inside of the box was wet. The beans were in plastic and then in bubble wrap. When I opened the package, very carefully, I found that four of the jars were smashed and there were beans and broken glass all mixed in. Very dangerous. Money was refunded for which 'Thank you' but that is not the point. I obviously now feel that I cannot order this item as I do not want to make a habit of dealing with broken glass.

Bought because I was fed up buying the tinned stuff that had additives. Love the fact they're in jars {will be put to good use before recycling} and they taste so much better with a lovely texture. Shall be buying again.

The wonderful thing about Biona is not only are they Organic, they are also GF so safe for me as Coeliac. Just rinse the beans fully in a sieve before use and add to whatever you are making. I use these in all sorts, from a mixed bean salad to curry, casserole, and chilli. Very tasty. The jars are also nice and useful to reuse for making chutney or gifts.

Excellent beans - great quality. Beans were cooked perfectly - not hard and not too soft. I will be buying again.

I’m sure the quality and taste are excellent but the packaging was not. One jar broken and contents ruined with broken glass.

This is a pack of 6 jars. They are very nice and as they are in screw top jars a few can be used and any remaining kept in the fridge in the jar. Unfortunately, one of the jars in the pack was smashed and the contents ended up all over the other jars. As I needed the items quickly, I didn't raise a the issue with Amazon or the seller. I just washed the remaining good jars. The contents are fine. TBH, the packaging was inadequate. The 6 jars should have been in a box, not a brown paper bag.
