A must for every slide guitarist, this book with online audio files teaches how to: play lead and rhythm anywhere on the fretboard, in any key; play a variety of slide guitar styles using moveable scale patterns, common licks and slide techniques; play in open G tuning, open D tuning, open A tuning, open E tuning, and standard tuning; and more. The book features easy-to-follow diagrams and instruction for beginning to advanced players, and the audio includes 47 demonstration tracks. Review: Excellent, as usual - I'm a big fan of the Roadmaps books and I was looking for a general introduction to slide guitar. I can play slide in a very limited sense, but wanted a general nudge into more detailed info without being overwhelmed. Fred Sokolow organizes all of his books in a similar way. You learn chords and scales, how the chords are built, and some starter info in how it all fits together. This book is an excellent way to get started with slide and to understand it beyond using an open tuning and making a chord by barring across all the strings. The Roadmaps books, to me, excel at helping to visualize what you're learning. Affordable and well worth every penny. Review: Good for lapsteel - I bought this book to help with my lap steel playing. After all, lap steel is playing slide in a more comfortable position. This book gives you the information you need to play licks in a blues scale for a number of different tunings. It does not give you all of the patterns you can use, but it will get you where you need to be. It also gives you information for forming minor chords in different locations on the freeboard. These are explained, and there is also a diagram of the location of the minor chords on the fretboard. The book is user friendly, but may be a bit difficult if you do not play guitar already. ## Features - Book/Online Audio - Pages: 48 - Instrumentation: Guitar ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #1,048,088 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #303 in Electric Bass & Guitar Songbooks #1,980 in Guitar Songbooks #4,481 in Music Instruction & Study (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 86 Reviews | ## Images ![Fretboard Roadmaps - Slide Guitar by Fred Sokolow | Electric Guitar TAB and Standard Notation Method with Online Audio for Beginner to Advanced Players, Blues Styles, Open Tunings, Lead Skills - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/714r-ZUNPIL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent, as usual *by A***F on July 10, 2013* I'm a big fan of the Roadmaps books and I was looking for a general introduction to slide guitar. Does the best job of relating various tunings to each other, of any book I've read covering that topic. Definitely worth the price. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/5385469-fretboard-roadmaps-slide-guitar-by-fred-sokolow-electric-guitar-tab](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/5385469-fretboard-roadmaps-slide-guitar-by-fred-sokolow-electric-guitar-tab) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-19*
