This is a fun series very well written ..can't wait to read the next in the series..would recommend to anyone

I'm giving four stars because it took so long for me to get through maybe the first third of the book.The first book in this series grabbed me right away. This one was trying to tell a new storyline while also reintroducing the original one from book #1, and I felt a bit impatient to get into the "meat" of the story.Otherwise this book was really good! I already bought book #3 and I plan to read #4.I should mention, because it's important to know this, that I'm not a great reader. I have good intentions, but if a book doesn't immediately kidnap me and keep me constantly interested, I won't finish it. That should say loads about me saying I'm starting book #3!

The thing is, in this case, book 2 is better than book 1. If you look below you'll probably see just 4 stars for the first book in the series, "The Box and the Dragonfly." Maybe it's just because I knew some of the characters already, but I liked this one enough to bump it to 5 stars! (Now I just know that the author is quivering in delight, right?) This book opens on the life of a seeker we've never met, who of course doesn't have any idea who she is. And along the way we learn some things about the past. Things that involve parents, and Instruments, and a lot of surprises. And, naturally, the immediate danger of this volume is overcome, but at the end we are left with an obvious problem to be solved, we hope, next time. I can't be more specific, sorry, because to do so would give away too much, and I'm trying to avoid spoilers. If you haven't read the first book, you should do that before you read this one. In fact, go ahead and do that now. Then, read this one. You'll be glad you did.

This series shouldn't be marketed to just kids! Adults need to get wound up in something like this more often. This book made me late for work, late to bed, tired, late from breaks, late to functions and generally antisocial until I finished them.. which was pretty quick! For me there were no slow spots, the pace was great!! So anyways Buy this book if You're a human, you can read, you love tales, you love adventure, you love books, you have kids, you don't have kids, you are a kid...

According to our 11-year-old son, this book was even better than the first in the series. He read it every free moment he had, and stole a few from his bedtime. He really enjoyed the idea of being able to see into the minds and through the senses of other animals. We can't wait until the 3rd book comes out.

Just as good as the first book. I especially liked the fact that even though not every detail was resolved, there was an actual conclusion. I'm looking forward to the next!
