The late great king of bawdy humor, Benny Hill, plied his trade in two main formats—sight-gag/slapstick film clips, and word play/double-entendre. In the latter, he sometimes liked to poke fun at the difficulties that the English language presents to non-native speakers, and he celebrated the accidentally-obscene remarks that one can make from a position of complete innocence. It’s from this formula that the Hill-ian phrase “I have a red pencil box” originates. Well the king is no more, and the world has become a less amusing place. But that doesn’t mean you might not still have need for a pencil box. Consider the SPACEMATE Double Capacity Pencil Case. First Impressions: ==================== I placed my order for the SPACEMATE pencil case and received it two days later—consistent with most Vine items I’ve ordered from Amazon. I did not see any statement, either in packaging or on the web page, indicating the country of origin. This item is a roughly-rectangular-shaped pencil “box”, fashioned from teal fabric. A zipper spans three-quarters of the circumference of the bag, and is used to open or secure the container. The exterior of the pencil box features both a deep storage pocket and a fabric loop carrying handle. Inside the box is a cavity approximately 2 inches deep. An internal, cloth-hinged, divider lies just above this cavity. This divider features some small pockets and loops of elastic ribbon to restrain items stored there. A TI-30 calculator, for example, stores neatly on one side of this divider. Just inside the “lid” of the box is a zippered pouch. The pouch is comprised of coarse mesh cloth, so it’s easy to see/confirm what is stored inside the pouch without having to open it. A Second Look: ==================== SPACEMATE calls the fabric from which this item is made, “Heavy Duty Canvas.” To my way of thinking, it certainly is. The stitching in this item is neat, with no apparent loose threads. As long as the zippers hold up (the manufacture claims they are “brand name” but does not specify the brand), I could see this case lasting a long, long time. SPACEMATE claims this box will hold 50-100 pens. Why you would need to carry that many pens is not entirely clear to me, but I can confirm through testing that the case could likely hold at least a 90 pencils. It takes little imagination to see how this case could be used for any number of portable storage purposes... for tools, medicines, laptop accessories, or what have you. I note that my Fluke DMM fits perfectly in the well of this case, and the pockets and restraints on the divider provide an ideal place to store the test leads. The mesh bag in the lid can store some spare batteries or accessories for the test leads. In this application, I like the fact that when the box is zipped shut, the divider covers the face of the instrument and protects the display from scratches. I note also that the floor of the storage cavity appears to contain some small amount of padding, a feature of possible benefit in the event the bag were to fall or be dropped. Conclusion: ==================== You may not have a hundred pens or pencils to put in this box, but there are easily a hundred good uses to which this container could be applied. It appears to be fashioned of robust materials, and the internal features (pouches, zippers, elastic loops and divider) should prove useful in organizing the pieces and parts of whatever you store inside.

I love this pencil pouch! It holds all my journaling supplies. It seems to be very well made and can be stuffed full with no issues. I have 4 sticky note pads, a bunch of vinyl stickers, 10 pens, 20 highlighters, a box of 24 colored pencils, a pencil sharpener, glue stick, and 9 regular rolls of washi tape in it with no issues with zipping it. The zipper seems like it will hold up very well. . It’s also a very pretty purple color.

This is the pencil case I have been looking for for a long time. I really do like it. I ordered other colors I like them so much. The color is a little darker than I was expecting. It’s still okay. It reminds me of the color of a cardboard box. Thankfully, this case doesn’t have a polyester lining. I find that most cases I’ve ordered, up into the $18 range, all have some thin, shiny lining. Even when the outside material seems pretty nice. The material on the SpaceMate is definitely the nicest I’ve seen. Because the elastic that would hold pencils is so loose, one can put other items in that area. It’s a good size. I question the assertion in the description about using name brand zippers. None of the zippers are marked. The zipper on the interior feels rough on the pull but glides over the tines alright. YKK’s have better pulls and are usually marked. The exterior zipper is nice. Because it has such wonderfully thick fabric all the way through and no cheap liner, SpaceMate cases are the nicest pencil cases I have. If it came down in price, I would buy a handful more. Kids love pencil cases. They make great gifts.

I use this case to store my quilting supplies when I'm traveling. This is especially great for storing rotary cutters, replacement blades, scissors and fabric markers. I also keep a handful of bobbins, needles and other miscellaneous notions inside. The case doesn't appear that big but its actually very spacious. Ive found it to be a great way to stay organized on the go.

Got these for my 2nd grader and kindergartener. They are sturdy and made well. We only have used them for 2 weeks so far but they still look new and my kids are not easy on them. The zippers work good too

My daughter was so excited when this pencil case arrived, she said it’s “way bigger” than her old one, and she was right. Roomy: It fits pencils, markers, erasers, scissors, and even a surprise snack. Fun Factor: The color is perfect, and she was proud to show it off on the first day of school. Durability: The fabric feels tough enough to survive a school backpack and daily use. And if it gets dirty, it is easily cleaned. Zipper is in good quality. Verdict: A pencil case that actually keeps up with a kid’s supplies. Both mom and daughter give it a thumbs up!

I bought this for my daughter for high school. She loves the way it looks and that it holds everything she needs.

Nice pencil case, and I especially love they didn't use that nasty grey nylon inside. BUT, within 2 months the zip is broken and splits apart when closed. Sometimes it won't close at all Very disappointed
