I tried red yeast rice capsules for a year, which was suggested by my doctor but after a year and a blood test, my cholesterol wasn't any lower. I eat very well, no fried food, little red meat, gluten or dairy. Still, my cholesterol was high. Always has been. Don't go on statins if you can help it! **Q: does it have a garlic taste to it whatsoever** A: I have taken for quite awhile, and no taste until last 2 bottles, so beware. I think they changed their processing. Makes awful smelling gas. So I contacted Amazon, and they are going to contact the company to see what is going on with that change.
