Checked out the other reviews when purchasing this. Don't know WHAT they are doing or talking about. Very easy to install. ALL DRIVERS DOWN LOAD FROM EPSON. I can put my iMac, desk top, to sleep and scanner stays on. Went off once and when I woke iMak up it turned back on. No unplugging , reloading or what ever, just turned back on! Doesn't make any more noise then my older scanner, No problem. Scans quickly, not MINUTES like reviews stated? Photo quality is fine as well as printed statements. Just got it up n running so will give an update in the future. Don't know what the other reviewers where talking about. Great little unit, not as bulky as my other Epson scanner was. As a former professional photographer, I have always found Epson to be my choice. Oh yes, price was right!

I’m very happy with this flatbed scanner. Epson’s website provides installation packets online - just select your operating system version from their dropdown menu. The installation of the the Epson software, drivers and documentation to my iMac went flawlessly. I scanned about 50 photos, several small paintings and a few paper documents and the resulting images, PDFs, etc. looked identical to the originals. I was able to scan 3-4 photo prints at a time (e.g., 5x3.5in) and the software automatically created separate files for each photo. After each scan, you are able to optionally rotate each image, edit the file defaults (format/name/location), and save/print/send it. The process is easy, flexible and logical. There are also buttons to turn on/off color and/or contrast enhancements and these are sometimes helpful, although I preferred to use Lightroom in post for more comprehensive photo restorations. If you need to do occasional small-batch scanning, this affordable flatbed scanner is an excellent choice.

This scanner died after a little more than 1 year of sporadic use (perhaps after scanning about 400-500 photos). At some point, the scanner stopped turning on consistently (requiring the USB to be unplugged and re-plugged repeatedly in order to get it working) and the preview scan would often turn out to be a full black page. A few weeks afterwards, the scanner stopped turning on at all.Prior to the scanner dying, it's scans also had streak lines through the middle of the page. Fortunately, I was able to work around by positioning the photos outside of the streak lines. Besides that, scan quality was decent, but not outstanding compared to higher-end scanners. Another flaw that's worth mentioning is that the actual scan area does not extend to the edge of the glass (a shortcoming that's even documented in the manual), meaning that it's necessary to place photos within the edge; however, doing so can result in a skewed scan that requires adjustment afterwards.In any case, the fact that this scanner died just after a year of use underscores its cheap construction and build quality and validates the saying "buy cheap, buy twice." This scanner may still be ok if you're just looking for a one-and-done light scan project.

I had a HP Scanjet, which was solid, heavy and had film scanning features. After a few years, HP stopped updating drivers. Scanners have come a long way. I am surprised that the Epson Perfection V19 II can be powered by USB. This scanner is nice and small, portable enough for travel. For what I scanned, it worked great. However, the build quality makes me believe that the Epson Perfection V19 II is meant for occasional household use. The scanner does feel flimsy but again for light use, maybe it will last.I downloaded and installed the software on a Windows laptop. Getting the scanner up and running is a breeze. The software is the lite version, easy interface. I wish the scanner came with a USB-C cable for use with Macbooks.

I needed to preserve old photos from the 1940's on. This works perfectly. Using 1200 dpi is perfect. Scanning up to 6 photos at the same time is quick and easy. Very happy to discover they all came out as individual scans AND were were straight even though I didn't place them exactly straight. Crooked scans are a thing of the past.

I love this scanner. I recently took on the task of scanning almost 500 family photos. I bought a Canoscan and it didn't work at all for me. I bought the Epson scanner and am very happy with the results. I placed 6 photos on the scanner and it automatically separated them into 6 different files. This made the process so much faster. The scan speed is decent and the quality is excellent. Plus you don't even need a power cord. I highly recommend this scanner.

I just scanned in over 3000 pictures of varying sizes, some of which were between 1 and 3 inches square or rectangle. I could easily fit several on the scanning surface and each picture came out just as clear as if I had scanned each individually. I don't like that sometimes the scanner software wanted to 'auto crop" but it was easily corrected with a click of the mouse. The physical size of the scanner is just right for me (I don't have large items to scan) and it is fairly light. The only thing I don't like it that it is always on when plugged in - there is no on/off switch. Also, if the computer goes to sleep while the scanner is plugged in, the scanner doesn't work. You have to unplug the scanner and restart your computer. Just plugging the scanner back in didn't work, at least for me. I used an iMac for my scanning, so this problem might not exist for a PC.

Update: After using this to scan a lot of things, I honestly wish this unit did not have the auto-cropping feature. Between that, and the fact that I have to rotate a lot of the scans (before I save them), I think I've spent a lot of extra time scanning. In addition, I do still get quite a few black lines on scans, even though the lid interior is white. I'm starting to think I should have spent another $50, and bought from the brand that quit on me. I went with this because I didn't get much use out of that one, before it broke. However, I was worried that the same issue would occur with one of those. It was a model that required a power supply, and the port was wonky. I didn't get to try it out, before the return window closed. I chose this because it doesn't require an external power supply. But, with the auto-cropping and the rotation annoyances, I'm not the trade off was worth it.Original review: Well... It's interesting... First and foremost, it does do the job. It's light and compact, as advertised. There's an auto-cropping feature that may cause some issues, however. If you want to avoid that, you have to position your documents away from the top and side edges. That could be problematic because the unit is so compact that there isn't much wiggle room for 8.5" by 11" documents. Fortunately, I haven't had any issues with it. What is annoying to me is that there's no way to predict how the "one-button" scans are imported into ScanSmart (using the button closest to the power light). I'm having to rotate most items before saving them as PNG files. I'm having to do a lot of clicking here and there with the mouse. Tedious.I don't have a huge problem with the USB cable type, but some people might. Instead of using a USB type-c cable, the unit uses a micro USB port. There is a cable included in the box, however. Fortunately, I have other cables of the same type, if the included one hides or quits working. People that have more modern devices than I may have an issue, should that one go walk-about, however.Another thing to be aware of is there's no disc included in the box. You'll need an internet connection to download it. My laptop doesn't have an optical drive, so I had to download anyway. If you're going to use the scanner on a device that doesn't connect to the internet, you'll have to save the download onto a device beforehand, however.I do like the fact that the inside of the cover is white. That means less cropping before I print documents back out. The scanner that just died on me had a black interior. I'll have it crop all of the scans done with it, to avoid wasting toner. With this unit, I should have isolated incidents of having to take that step. That will be nice. Especially since I'm having to rotate so many of the scans, before saving files.

I was surprised it had to be imported from USA and took a little longer than expected to get deliveredHaving said that, the unit is very easy to set up, download software, install, plug in usb and it worked no problem.Very pleased with results and happy with purchase.One thing though, I went to register g/tee, will not let me choose country only USA?

Both my PCs, Windows 10 and 11, could not detect the scanner at first. I uninstalled and downloaded the drivers again. Finally, it is working now.Epson software is not the best, but it is working at the moment, so I am changing the one-star review.
