Sorry, the Newbealer mini iron NB301 does not have automatic shutdown function and needs to be manually turned off.

Can this iron be carried on a carry on on an airplane?

Yes. I had it in my carry on. I was asked to pull electronics bigger than a lap top and since the iron is about the size a new cell phone. I didn't pull it out. It was also about size of hairdrier. It went thru the airport checkin several times. Miami, JFK, Milan, and Rome without issue.

No, this iron maintains a constant temperature of 302℉ for the panel
