Great for the price, a lot of practice needed to get it right.
I quite enjoy cooking and I've recently come to appreciate the difference a good sharp knife can make. I've seen a lot of people talk about using one of these stones over the usual sharpening steel that come with knife sets so I thought I would give it a try.Firstly it is well packaged with several layers of bubble wrap so the stone was still intact, always a good start! The pedestal and rubber mat work brilliantly at holding the stone securely, doesn't move at all when set in the base. Now for actually sharpening, I have a lot to learn in terms of technique. I tried this once and it made a marginal improvement in my knife but not as well as I'd hoped. I know for a fact this is due to my inexperience rather than the stone, so I would suggest using one of the many tutorials available on youtube to try and get a better result than I did, as the small instruction guide supplied only gives minimal direction.I forgot to take pictures of actually sharpening my knife as I got too into it.Despite my lack of skill with these, it's a great product and I hope to practice a bit more to get it right. very reasonable for the price.
