This particular unit is a Bryant 1.5-ton heat pump split system. The new capacitor looks great and well-made, arrived quickly, and is working great. I would recommend it to others. It saved me about $300, which is about what I paid an HVAC company a few years ago to diagnose the problem and replace a capacitor on one of our other heat pumps.

My outside AC unit made a shrieking sound like it was about to explode in the middle of a hot night. I quickly shut it off and looked for a solution the next day. After watching many YouTube videos, I pinpointed the issue to be a broken capacitor (low current to the fan motor, so my fan didn't spin, causing pressure to build up). However, when I took out my old capacitor, I found it so rusted that I couldn't read the MFD and voltage info from it. Fortunately, I found the model number and manufacturer on the side of the outside unit. After some internet searching, I determined the MFD for the fan motor and compressor to be 5 and 30. My AC model uses 370VAC, and the replacement can be used for both 370VAC and 400VAC. I ordered the replacement with one-day shipping. The new capacitor was the same size as the old one with 3 prongs on top (common, herm, fan). I labeled the wires before removing the old rusted one, and it took me just 5 minutes to install the new one and reconnect the wires. It works like a charm! I saved myself hundreds of dollars. The repair itself is super easy and only requires a screwdriver to remove the panel and a pair of needle-nose pliers to detach the wires from the terminal (or you can use a eyebrow tweezer to do it).
