Worth the money
I bought these for Snowdon in November. Didn't use them going up but tried them on the way down and they were worth every penny. People were struggling to walk down the icy paths while I was walking down them with confidence. They are also very good on the normal paths as you get extra grip. The only downside to these and it depends on what type of boots you have, is that the front strap that goes over the front toe area of the boot can crush your toes a bit. I have a material base boot (not leather) and I found the strap started to hurt after about 30mins so had to remove them. However other people had better leather boots and it wasn't a problem. I guess if you push the front/top area above your toes and it moves easily then these might hurt but if your boots are rock solid in that area then it should be fine.

Great grip but broke
Used these going up Snowdon via Crib Goch in February. They are very easy put on and do not come off. However after about 100m of walking one of the chain links broke which caused the spikes to shift around under foot and made walking dangerous. I decided to venture on with just one on and use that foot as my lead for grip. They do provide an extremely high amount of grip I was just disappointed in one of them breaking after reading very good reviews. Maybe I just got a duff pair. However I have now since fixed them with a pair of pliers and they are fine. Still get 4 star as I think that I was just unfortunate and like I said earlier they provided a great deal of great for the price and they'll fit any boot.

Ideal for regular walkers
I go out on the hills with my brother almost every Saturday, regardless of the whether. We've tried all the cheap and nasty crampons but they tend to be rubbish! They're okay for emergencies but they don't stay on your boot and we keep losing them. These Pogu crampons are expensive compared to the cheaper versions but I decided to buy a pair for my brother and myself. So what's the difference? We were hill walking in the snow yesterday and we tried them out for the first time. For one thing, these are not going to come off your boot. They are really easy to put on and of course they give you excellent grip on snow and ice. They do however feel a bit weird when waking on the road but it's no big deal, and at one point the metal plate at the back rose up from the base of the heel - where is should be, to the back of the heel, on both boots. That only happened to me though so I'll keep my eye on that. It could have been when I jumped into deep snow or it could have been that I'd pulled them up too high at the back. Once I'd adjusted them they were fine after that.Yeah, they are expensive compared to the cheap ones but we've got them now and I doubt that I'm going to have to buy another pair this decade. I guess then it depends on how much walking you do in the snow and ice. If it's just a one-off then you may as well buy a couple of pairs of the cheaper ones and tie them on with boot laces. However, I would avoid the ones with the yellow studs because I tried a new pair of these the other week and all the studs fell out after one day's walking.

Does what it says on the tin - and then some.
Wish I had discovered these years ago - they give absolute confidence walking on ice (you could sprint across a skating rink - although the damage to the surface would make you unpopular), they are fairly easy to fit or remove (once you sort out the Velcro strap correctly), and seem well built (though I've only done about 20 miles so far). On ice-free road you 'clink' a bit, and you need decent soles or you can feel the fact you are walking on steep lumps ... under my Alt-berg walking boots they are fine. The are a =bit= heavy (what, no titanium?!) and ludicrously expensive, given what I estimate the material and labour costs to be, but I'll still award them 5 stars. I think the NHS should issue them free - if you saved one broken bone per hundred pairs you'd still come out ahead. While the spikes are not REALLY sharp, you definitely want them off before going indoors. Oh, and you need to remember when you're NOT wearing them, or false confidence will get you for sure.Oh, yes, the are also excellent on wet wooden stiles and footbridges, although maybe a bit like overkill just for that. Buy some, buy mum some, buy granny some - or if you're richer, buy the company. I also bought a pair of size small for my partner .. although those seem to come with a German language listing, for no obvious reason. She can't believe how well they work either.

This is an excellent product. However as no size specified
This is an excellent product. However as no size specified, I assumed one size fits all. Not so. I am now stuck with £35 worth of large size when I am medium. Large size is useless for me - and possibly dangerous

Essential for winter
Arrived just after the snow ended, but at least I'm more prepared for the next random snow storm in the UK. Haven't had a chance to use them yet, but the fit is fine and am sure they'll also work fine, they certainly look like they will.

Expensive but superb
Used these on a recent trip to Iceland and on the walk to Svartifoss there was a fair amount of sheer ice. These ice spikes did the trick and I felt very sure footed - I didn't slip once. Easy to put on and take off my size 12 boots. Highly recommended. Definitley worth the money if you would get sufficient use to justify the cost.

Great spikes.
I fitted the spikes to my Hi-Tec Sierra Lite Boots and tried them out on icy footpaths around an old quarry. They offered a good grip and the velcro strap held them secure on steep slopes. As stated the performed like a mini crampon and ensures confidence on frozen grass and gravel. The neat little bag to hold them lies comfortable inside the top of a small day sack.
