Useful module for easy booting and running of Linux distros
Edit: this module is not required for the 5 Pro, and I was mistaken. OrangePi reached out and made things right, and showed me the correct procedure outlined in the manual. It's kind of insane that this module contains the SPI for the boards listed, when previous OrangePi models came with it on the board, forcing users to buy another piece of hardware. This is made even more insane by the fact that the board has NVMe ON THE BOARD. But you cannot boot from JUST the NVMe without this module.

It works and very tiny, but it is nightmare to figure out how to boot from EMMC!
The EMMC is working fine on OPI 3B v.2.1. There is no way to do it without SD card though. The documentation is missing last step you need to do to get it bootable, and RKDevTool_Release_v3.15 has incomplete configuration that makes it impossible to update SPI boot loader. So follow the steps in OPI manual: 2.5.2. Use the dd command to burn the Linux image into eMMCwhen done, run this command before poweroff:$sudo nand-sata-installselect "Install/Update the bootloader on SPI Flash", select "Yes", wait until it's done for a few minutes. When it finishes - poweroff, remove SD card and boot from EMMC, finally. The EMMC speed is about 130 MB/s

Not just for Orange PI
Using this one with ROCK 64 SBC. Works just fine. Second (smaller) connector is there for physical board support only.

Difficult to install
I now have 3 eMMC cards, one 64GB and two 256GB. It is definitely not plug-and-play with the OPi3B. Instructions from the manual got hung when trying to determine a path for download from the PC into the eMMC. sudo nand-sata-install gets an error that the eMMC needs to be "cleaned" and also will not mount. I am considering getting a pair of 128GB SDHC cards and just living with it with the OS downloaded from the OPi site. How very frustrating to not to be able to instal the eMMC cards
