Sisko and crew meet the crew of the original Enterprise
Author Diane Carey brings us the novelization of one of the two 30th anniversary episodes for Star Trek. Taking place in the early fifth season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the Defiant under the command of Captain Sisko is tasked with taking one of the Bajorian orbs back to DS9 and Bajor. But 80 years ago Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise are called to Deep Space Station K-7 because one Federation bureaucrat wants them to protect the grain that he has there. That grain under the peace treaty would make sure that the Federation not the Klingon Empire controls Sherman's Planet. But as the Defiant is on it's way home it is thrown back in time and come face to face with history. The person that sent them back escaped and whipped the transporter records so the crew of the Defiant has to search both the Enterprise and K-7. This is a great retelling of the episode and I highly recommend it for all Star Trek fans.

The DS9 crew encounter the Tribbles and the original Star Trek crew.
This was a lot of fun. The characters of Deep Space Nine mixing via video and literary trickery with the crew of the Original Series. The book starts with an introduction by David Gerrold creator of the original Star Trek Episode “The Trouble with Tribbles.”"If I had known I was going to be “the guy who created the tribbles” for the rest of my life, I might have thought twice about it."DAVID GERROLDThe story largely reproduces what was written for the TV series Deep Space Nine (Season 5 Episode 6) with a few embellishments from the author Diane Carey, so the Deep Space Nine characters could have slightly more interaction with the Original Series characters than the digital trickery of the episode would allow. This is a great book if you want a nostalgia buzz for the original Star Trek crew and the classic USS Enterprise with an ample helping of humor. The introduction will also please ardent Trekkies with details about the concept of the original Tribbles episode.

Nostalgia
Novelization of the TOS-DS9 crossover episode (more of a novella, it's quite short). I haven't seen this episode in a while, but reads pretty much as I remember it. Not quite the same though as seeing the TOS crew and the DS9 crew interacting on the small screen.

novelization and expansion of the best episode
It's 2021, and that means it’s been 25 years since this episode aired as part of the 30th anniversary of the Original Series. And still, it is the single best episode of Star Trek ever made. This book, by Diane Carey, noted Trek writer, is a fun novelization/expansion of the episode as aired. Plus, the extended introduction by original Tribbles writer David Gerrold, is worth the purchase price on its own.

fun to revisit
I remember loving this episode of DS9 and reading the novelization brought me back to that happy memory. It was great to read David Gerrold introduction and Ron Moore’s afterword.

One of my favorite episodes, both of the original Star Trek series ...
One of my favorite episodes, both of the original Star Trek series and DS9; so naturally this is one of my favorite adaptations! I am just delighted to have it on Kindle, as it is always good for a lot of great memories and laugh-out-loud moments. If you love Star Trek, you NEED this one; thanks so much for making it available!

Story decent, kindle lousy
I love the tribble episodes, TOS and DS9, no question. I enjoy most of Carey's stories, too, no question about that either. And this is a decent novelization, though I expected more fleshing out.But the Kindle edition is almost impossible to read. There are no breaks between scenes -- every scene just runs into the next one. And there are neither breaks between paragraphs nor indenting of paragraphs. There were numerous times I had to go back and reread, and recall the episode, to realize, "ah, yes, we're in a new scene," or "okay, this is where somebody else started acting or talking."If a person hadn't seen the episode, I suspect they would be completely lost, trying to read this on Kindle.
