No bulge! Pages lie flat even with it filled, unlike the Vault X 12 Pocket Binder!
After doing tons of research, I bought this binder to replace my Vault X 12 Pocket Binder XL. The problem with the binder from Vault X was that there was a very large bulge on the pages and it caused my valued cards to bend. Because of Dragon Shield’s reputation, I knew their quality would be top-notch. I was immediately surprised by how premium the binder felt in my hands. The outer covers would not bend at all. The texture and the art of the covers looked amazing. The binder comes with a paper that can be slotted into the spine for a custom label for your binder. Comparing it to the last binder I owned, the card slots were much farther away from the spine of the binder. Because of this, all the pages were flat when I filled all the pockets. I was satisfied with this product as I knew my cards would not bend when flipping through it. The pockets are super clear and will allow your foiled cards to shine! I recommend not using Ultra Pro Penny Sleeves with this binder as the pockets are a bit shorter than those sleeves. Vault X soft card sleeves would fit. If you use Dragon Shield sleeves for your cards in this binder, there is no need to double-sleeve your cards as the sleeves fit perfectly into the slots and will not allow particles to enter. After shaking the binder vigorously, the strap is very strong and keeps the binder closed. If you are looking to store your valued cards in a binder, get this binder as its quality is unmatched compared to a Vault X Binder!

🤷 Nearly perfect. ✨✨
What can I say about these binders? Dragon shield binders do almost everything I need them to do. They have: - durable, synthetic material, which has a texture that almost calls back to leather. It's a synthetic, for sure...but the quality is there. - fixed pages: they have well-spaced, durable, quality portfolio pages. Not quite as nice as the BCW Z-folio's pages, but still excellent. - most importantly: a SLOT FOR LABELS. Yes, I capitalized that. Do you know how many quality binders out there that have no space for a simple label insert? Not a single competitor. VaultX for example relies on colors and spine binder numbers...but yeah...no. I want clean uniformity for my collection...not vague binder numbers or colors that make my prized collection look like a bowl of fruity pebbles. We've all seen the atrocities, too...people putting tape on their binder spines, or worse: writing on their 40 dollar binders with sharpies. And still, no other manufacturers include a spot for labels. 🤷 You will remember: I said "nearly" perfect. That is because this particular line uses straps instead of zippers. Suffice to say, I am not a fan of elastic straps. I would wager that they will eventually lose their elasticity, and render the binder useless. Why on Earth wouldn't Dragon Shield include a zipper like they do their Zipster 3-ring model? I had even reached out to them to see if there were any plans to include a zipped fixed-page version, and gave me a definitive no. Oh well. Despite that, these binders are top-notch, and I would recommend them, OR the aforementioned Zipster model line to anyone looking for a top-quality way to store and display their collection.

Durable, High capacity
Excellent binder tbh. Large storage amount and great overall construction. Doesn't make me worry about card protection, I can tell they're safe. Worth the money imo. This could go either way depending on how you view it, but cards (sleeved especially) have a habit of sliding around in the pockets, and the sideloading makes them vulnerable to slipping part of the way out and possibly getting bent if you're not careful. But they're easy to pull out because of that also. Just be careful and you should be fine. Great product.

Luxurious Binder for Luxurious Cards
I know most people run after Zip binders, myself included, but the Card Codex has a really sturdy backing in the covers that the pressure from the strap can't really compress through. Now don't get me wrong, pressure is till added to the area using the strap, that's physics, however, it won't bent your cards. Page backing is an awesome Dragon Shield Matte texture so your cards stay in place and pockets start a good distance away from the spine of binder reducing the chances of bending the cards closest to the spine. Binder stays 98% flat when filled to capacity and 96% when filled with double sleeved cards. Cover Texture is awesome, the binder looks and feels luxurious. Highly Recommend these, maybe in the future Dragon Shield will offer these with a Zipper option instead of the Zipper D-Ring binders but until then, these are a great especially the 576 pocket version if you have the space.

Flattest Ringless Binder On The Market Right Now
After hearing multiple people say that “O-ring binders are bad for cards,” I decided to bite the bullet and try out a “ringless” binder. Having tried multiple ringless binders at this point, (including Vault X, Ultimate Guard and Z-Folio) I always run into the same problem. Before the binder would even be halfway full, it would get this ugly ^ shape bend between the middle row and the row closest to the spine. This was completely unacceptable for me. Coming from a ring binder, I want my card pages to lay flat. I collect cards to look at and admire. That’s why they’re in a binder and not a vault. After wasting a lot of time and money on a variety of binders, I heard someone say that Dragon Shield’s binders would lay perfectly flat. So do they? No. But, for a ringless binder, they’re likely the closest we’ll get for a while. I’ve included pictures showing 2 completely filled Dragon Shield binders. The red one contains Pokemon cards and the blue contains larger, more traditionally sized, Sonic trading cards. Every card in the blue binder is sleeved in a BCW penny sleeve. For the red binder, half the cards are single sleeved in KMC perfect fits and the other half are double sleeved in perfect fits with the KMC Hyper Mat sleeves. The main thing that prevents me from giving this binder a perfect 5 stars is the lack of a zipper. It’s too bad the zippered version of the dragon shield binder doesn’t have a “ringless” option or that the ring version isn’t just a tiny bit bigger to accommodate my preferred pages. Since a perfect binder for me still doesn’t exist, these will have to do for now. Pros: Ringless. Decently flat pages when filled. Binder feels very high quality. Pages make a pleasant sound when you turn them. Binders come in multiple colors. Cons: No zipper. Pages still aren’t completely flat at full capacity. Binder won’t stay closed without the band. (Though, I don’t think using the band will hurt the cards.) Pockets are on the shorter side. Ultra Pro penny sleeves won’t fit properly. Binder cover has a strong smell when you first get it.

Robust!
Hearty, robust binder. a tactile experience when you pick it up. lots of gap between the spine and sleeve, which means your cards will not bend towards the center when opened or full. was disappointed that there is no zipper. I decided to keep it since the quality is so nice. love the green color.

Best card binder I have owned.
Gone are the days of buying a cheap back to school binder and tossing UltraPro sheets in for your collection. The fixed sheet UltraPro offerings always felt lacking, either the strap would put tension on the cards or the sheets would lack the grip to secure sleeved cards, opening your bag to find a few cards at the bottom crumbled up in the fold... This line of folios has a (so far) durable outer cover that looks more premium than your typical binder. The strap is strong, but doesn't deform the binder like some brands. The sleeves are very similar to the Dragon Shield sleeves, they offer a bit of grip to the card, even cards that are in perfect fit sleeves. I don't think I can ever go back to the standard 9 pocket sheets. It may be more costly than picking up a box of sheets, but I can confidently pack this thing with cards and know I won't be finding my trade binder at the bottom of my backpack. From now on these will be the binder of choice for me.

Quality binder
I picked up this binder to store MTG cards and I enjoy it. The quality is nice with a nice leather exterior. The lack of a zipper is a downside but the strap for sealing it works fine. I REALLY like the side insert for cards as apposed to the top insert. The pages feel nice and I can tell it will protect my card collection. I am able to fit my double sleeved MTG cards perfectly fine.

Perfect
I ordered this for my son for Christmas. He really liked it. The product has a very nice feel and is very well made. If you are an avid card collector who would like to keep your cards well protected the extra money spent on this brand is far superior to a binder with insert pages you purchase yourself.
