The instructions were clear, though we stumbled a bit getting the bolt section oriented properly. The instructions say it is 30 mins for one person to assemble. That might be true if you have assembled a few of them. We definitely needed two people to hold the parts as we screwed it together. The second planter took us about 45 mins. After assembly, we sealed the wood and attached the landscape cloth to the sides with galvanized tacks to keep the dirt away from the wood.It isn't very deep, so deep rooted plants are inappropriate. But for annuals or annual herbs, it will be perfect. Most furniture you have to assemble has the silver things that drop perfectly into the space, you slide the bolt in, and turn it a quarter turn to lock it. Why can’t these have that? So I got one to work which took like an hour, and then just abandoned those completely and they are outside standing strong. It did come with instructions for assembly and it did come with a liner.
