The 10 Commandments of Insanity
Here are the things you need to know for true success using this plan1.If you have completed this work out plan and don have the results you were expecting don't panic.Insanity adverts and infomercials can be a little misleading.Insanity is advertised as a 60 day plan (2 months) but it is a 6 day a week for 10 weeks workout plan (2.5 months) so give it time, also the before and after results on the adverts are not that accurate, if you look closely at the bottom of the screen you will see a small disclaimer (results achieved after 21+ weeks. That means that means that the people have done the plan at least twice!!2.Do not expect to lose a massive amount of weight in the first few weeks. sorry to break it to you but month 1 is ONLY to get you to the fitness level to tackle month 2 where the real weight loss begins.3.The diet plan sucks, it recommends you eat around 1400 - 1800 kcals a day spread through around 5 or so meals.I found i lost more weight by substituting breakfast and dinner with a Whey protein shake.4.do not be discouraged if you seem to gain weight, trust me you WILL burn fat but at the same time you may also gain some defined and toned muscle mass.Muscle weighs more than fat it doesn't mean the program inst working for you5.always stretch at the beginning and end of each workout you will be doing lots of power jumps and intense push ups the easiest way to injury yourself is too not prepare you body properly.6.If you have any old injuries, bad back, wrist, knee, ankle etc. wear a brace or strap.you will need the extra support as not to compound your existing ailment.7.Do not be discouraged if you cant do all the exercises all the way through non stop, even Shaun T himself will stop halfway through some sets in the guise of talking to the camera to motivate you.Don't believe the hype he is as spent as your are.8.Push through. You will get out what you put in.when you first start, the warm up alone will kick your butt, but by day 6 you see a noticeable increase in your stamina and will breeze through the warm up with little effort. even if you cant do all the workouts properly keep at it. it all contributes to you chosen goals.9.If you have tried your hardest and Insanity still isn't for you remember that it took courage to make the decision to change your life in the first place, find something that works for you and take it at your own pace, not everything has to be done in 60 days like some kind of quick fix10.invest in some good supplements a good low fat whey protein, BCAA powder and green tea extract will intensify your results and help you feel and look amazing.

Insanely challenging workout!
I bought Insanity in October 2013 and completed it that December. I was pretty fit before I started as I spent a lot of time in the gym including up to 5 x 45 minute high intensity spinning sessions per week. My body was ok but it lacked definition and didn't seem to reflect the effort I was putting in. My first fitness test results were good but I got my butt well and truly kicked during the first workout. It was hard, left me panting on the floor and with muscle soreness that lasted a week. It found all those muscles I didn't use much but - how could I be that sore? I can see why some might give it up early! The workouts are well thought out and professionally choreographed by Shaun T and his team. The guys and girls working out with him have obviously completed the course and are fit but without exception they all need to take breaks, at some stage, outside the official water breaks. Shaun is a great motivator right through to the end. You are encouraged to workout at your own level and take breaks when you need to, coming back to it as soon as you feel able. The emphasis is on maintaining form. After four weeks I couldn't detect any physical changes in my body but since I wasn't overweight to begin with and was already fit I was confident that the changes would come after the final four weeks.Week five you have a recovery week and on week six all hell lets loose. The intensity and duration of the exercises are ramped up and significantly so. Pace yourself and don't beat yourself up if you can't keep up. I kept at it, never missing a day and whilst it never got easy I was more or less able to keep up by the end. Some exercises remained extremely challenging whilst others I could handle really well and the programme highlights the differences we all have in our own body physiology.I didn't lose much weight (I didn't need too) but probably exchanged 3kg of fat for 2kg of muscle. Instead of being straight up and down my shoulders had broadened and my waist had shrunk and it was noticeable when I looked in the mirror. When you workout with the team and watch the videos every day you become part of them and, if you can keep up, think you are one of them! I thought I would get the body of a twentysomething and have to admit I was more than a little disappointed when I didn't. Maybe at 61 my expectations were a little unrealistic! One thing I could have improved on was diet. I didn't get on with the choices offered on the course but went my own way. Balanced diet with moderate portions and I think I could have lost an extra kg or so had I addressed this better but there's a limit to the sacrifices I'm prepared to make with food!Three months on and I have continued with Insanity trying to find a balanced level of work that I can cope with whilst integrating it with my work at the gym (Bodypump and Spinning). I rotate through the harder workouts of the the final four weeks and find I'm averaging about 4 per week and on those days can cope well with a 45 high intensity spin session. A wrist injury has kept me out of bodypump for two weeks. My fitness continues to improve and I find I get get through some of the workouts without any pauses or extra breaks outside of the regular water breaks. Some exercises I'm better than them, others not so good but I now concentrate on improving form such as on high knees, making sure my knees really are high! Overall fitness has be the most unexpected improvement. Resting heart rate is down to about 45 and I find I can spin at a significantly higher level of intensity, maintaining a constantly heavy workload before i need to breathe through my mouth.100% recommend Insanity. So now I've got the body of a thirty year old what do I do about my face?(If you are are getting on a bit in years or have any medical conditions you really must consult your Doctor before trying Insanity!)
