Ready, Set, Novel!: A Workbook

To be honest, coming from a thirteen year old girl who has been writing novels since the young age of seven or eight, this book is absolutely wonderful. I don't know who will disregard my opinion on it, as I am so young, but this novel workshop is very handy and a very good method for planning out books. I no longer have to plot out novels on pieces of printer paper, losing them every few days or so. Instead, I am actually able to plan out a novel on these books instead. It's really handy... as I am not really the average "happily ever after" writer. The several different ways you can take this book are incredible. Instead of me always having to fill in the "What happens to the characters after they are happy in the end?" box, I am able to express my opinion better. This book is great.

I LOVE this journal. It has every little detail in there that you could possibly need for writing your novel. It is definitely geared towards NaNo project writing, but it works with any time of year. If you are doing NaNo, this journal would easily give you the 50k words that you need, and i feel like you'd be hard pressed to have a writer's block using this as a guide. But like I said, it's a great tool for any kind of novel writing. The only thing I'd change is being able to have a downloadable version for future use. I don't want to have to buy a new journal every time I start a new project, and other journals I've had that are like this have come with downloadable versions for verified purchases of the hard copy. Not a big deal and not enough to knock off a star for the review or anything, but perhaps a suggestion for the future.

I have been a nanowrimo member since 2012 and still haven’t written an entire book. As a writer I’m nothing without my procrastination. But this book is amazing. Yes I’ve done a lot of this stuff on my own. Do you absolutely need it? Of course not. Will this make your novel waaaaaay easier to write? Absolutely! I am motivated, I’m doing the exercises in it I was convinced I didn’t need to do. AND IT IS HELPING! This is deepening the complexity of my novel for me. Giving it a richness I didn't know it lacked. I’ll get back with you in a month to tell you if I ever finished it (yes i have ten million blank journals so I’m slightly scared I’ll fizzle out but honestly don’t think I will) and my novel. I’m the writer with fourteen WIPs and I will literally be buying this book for every single one of them. But I really am happy with this purchase and if you are a writer or you know a writer this is honestly a game changer. 11/10 So worth it.

This book is as entertaining as it is informative. There are clear instructions and suggestions as the author takes you on the journey from an idea to the first chapter. O highly suggest this to writers, both new and experienced, and young or old. Very helpful!

I do not have a messy mind, so this book doesn't work *as* well with me, but I know most creatives are erratic and messy when brainstorming and I am sure this book will very much help. It came extremely fast, it was clean and the receipt was tucked into the front cover. Definitely would recommend buying for unifnished/unknown novel concepts.

This book is filled to the brim with tidbits to poke and prod your idea into a possibly life filled story. I say possibly, because it's a wonderful framework, but you still get the joy from all the legwork. It has questions for characters, character bio sheets, a space for a map, timeline, and helpful prompts that get the juices flowing even if you later cut or completely exclude the scene resulting. It does all of this in a more humorous, friendly spirit than many other writing aids I've come across.

I love reading. LOVE IT. I've always wanted to write my very own novel, but had NO IDEA how to start. Ready, Set, Novel!: A Workbook is a terrific tool. To my very great surprise and delight, the instructional areas are not bland or boring, but rather funny and witty. The exercises in it really help expand my mind, even if they make me think so hard that I get a headache from time to time. The workbook also has hysterical pick-me-ups and ... drum roll please ... every writers favorite thing - procrastination pages! More importantly, this workbook will help you flesh out your characters and give them depth, and I mean DEPTH. And while there are many blank spots/pages for you to write in, I'd still pick up a blank notebook somewhere to keep alongside this one, because with this book, and all the fresh and exciting ideas that will flood your mind, you may just need it.

It’s got all you can these activities that helps you brain storm, and develop a character l’ve enjoyed so far I highly recommend this book.

Absolutely love this! I always hate planning my writing and find it boring, but this book turned it around! Its fun and encouraging style forced me to think about the small details of my novel that I would have missed out had I not bought this.This journal is designed to help you create a novel, starting from developing an idea first, rather than assuming you already have idea, which I think is great for those who are (somewhat) new to writing. From there, it then guides you right to the end of the novel, and even helps you think of a title for your novel!There are also the small things about this journal which I love, such as the satisfying checklists for each chapter and even the small pocket at the back for scraps of paper (I've included a picture of these >.<)I would definitely recommend this to any fellow writers who need a boost with planning, or want to write but have no idea where to start!

Such a useful book , before I got this i used to have to use a notepad and make layouts myself which would be a mess but this definitely helps me to keep on track with the development of my book and helps as I can go back at pages and look at what details I wrote about and helped me progress alot.

I bought this as a prompt as I was going on holidays and unable to bring my laptop. It's great fun. Written by the makers of Nanowrimo, their writing prompts really get you thinking. Perfect for anyone that wants to try their hand at writing. I have to confess I haven't filled it all in as I've already covered many parts of it, and I would have benefitted more when I began writing rather than a year down the line.

These books can be very helpful when you have a basic idea for a novel but can’t quite work through the details. Very overpriced in my opinion but still a good book
