I installed the WD Purple 2TB drive in my security system, and it’s been working flawlessly. It handles continuous recording without any issues, and the 64MB cache seems to help with smooth performance. I like that it’s specifically designed for surveillance, so I feel confident it will last. Easy to install in my NVR, and no glitches so far. Definitely a solid choice for anyone needing a dependable hard drive for cameras.

So far it is fast and very quiet. I cannot hear the drive at all.

This replaced a 1TB drive in our Swann DVR surveillance system. It was delivered on time and is working flawlessly. I would buy it again.

When installing on a new Synology box, I got the message that the drive was not approved as compatible. I used it anyways but they should make sure it is on the Synology list.

Excellent for NVR use! I record multiple security cameras 24/7, some through WiFi and others through CAT6 for high resolution. Has no speed problems keeping up with recording multiple cams at same time. Storage capacity gives a minimum of 60-days record time for all cams... I run at max video resolution, so I could probably bump that up to 120+ days if needed by reducing video resolution a little. Previously I used just a standard HD in my NVR which was a bit noisy, always ran very hot and eventually failed after 3 years. Been using this WD Purple drive for a few months now.... completely silent and stays at room temperature! Absolutely pleased!

If you want a hard drive that's going to last, look elsewhere. I had over one hundred bad sectors on mine in less than 6 months. Never had one do this in anything I've owned or used. I think you should get at least a couple years life out of a hard drive. That's data lost and never recovered. It was in a Security NVR and not subjected to heat or any kind of movement..just crapped out without a warning, and their warranty is next to non-existent.

Great drive for little money. I use these only for video recording and the purple drives work great for that. They are stable and performant. The longevity is good as well.

My NVR stopped working so I couldn’t record. I could just look in real time however once I installed my new hard drive it works like charm !! I can record finally with my surveillance cameras! Whoohoo!! Great value as well
