I love this book holder!
I didn't have high expectations for this book holder, given the price, but it is perfect! Almost. It is very lightweight and easy to carry from the bedroom to the living room. It holds a book quite firmly and it is easy to turn the pages; you just slide one from the clip on the right and into the clip on the left, the work of a moment. I love that it is mostly aluminum rather than mostly plastic. The major con, however, is that it is not easy to adjust the height. I don't know if it's my arthritis (the reason that I can't hold a book) or if it just takes two people but it was nearly impossible for me, alone, to get the legs adjusted evenly. Now that I've accomplished that, I don't dare change it. Also, the clips that hold the book open are plastic which concerns me. I think it's going to be fine as long as remember to adjust them at the base rather than pulling them out near the top which, I'm afraid, may break them. They don't appear to be replaceable because they're attached by gromets rather than screws. So not quite perfect, after all, but pretty darn close.

Sturdy, Fit and Works Well
Initially, I was concerned that the product would not be sturdy due to the light weight. When I tried it with heavy books, it held up just fine and there were no issues. Also the lightweight makes it very easy to move the stand. There are also many adjustment possibilities for the area that the book is placed on and have always found an adjustment suitable for my reading needs. I am 5'7" and the stand was snug on my hips when I used it to read in bed. If you are larger, I doubt that you could fit around your hips and would need to place it a further distance from your eyes. I would personally recommend this stand.

Good as a starter stand
I liked the construction but it's lightweight; not as sturdy as I would like but I had read other reviews and was expecting that. I had wanted something I could use to read in bed after cervical spine surgery. It turned out that it was too short to put the book in front of my eyes so I still had to look down. That made it difficult for me. Also, the clamps are too short to hold a trade paperback but too tight to hold a manual. Small hardcovers fit fine but I don't usually read those. It works better sitting on a desk than in bed but again it doesn't hold the smaller books or the large volumes I read. The adjustment points where the legs meet are simple to use but are much to deep to manipulate easily because they have to be held in with your thumb or other finger and makes it hard to manipulate the leg/arm. Next time I would be more likely to choose something more expensive but less problematic.

It Works!
This really does what it says it does. It’s helping enormously to keep me from getting a stiff neck from too much reading and iPad. It amazingly holds both very well, even quite large and heavy books. I could wish for the legs to be a bit longer so I could have the book platform higher but short of having it built to my personal specs, I can’t complain. Price seems fair. Don’t understand the complaints about difficulty in adjusting the legs. It’s quite simple. Very nice product!

Expecting a little more
I love the design of this because you can adjust it many ways to fit your needs. The legs adjust, the plate adjusts. My problem is that it’s too bulky. I read a lot, so much my elbows hurt from holding books for so long.At times I like to relax at night on the couch, this thing doesn’t fit when I’m am lengthwise. If I sit as if I’m in class (back straight, feet on floor) it works great, but most of my reading is done at night so I recline and relax. The couch isn’t a flat hard surface so when I move the holder moves, the book slides out on the side, the whole holder falls over. The page holders come up so far that it blocks the words, isn’t a huge con, just something that can be annoying being a fast reader.I’ve had so much trouble using this thing that I’m going to look for a better option for my needs.I really liked that it had its own legs so I can adjust the height, but I’m going to see what else I can find. Also, it is a pain to adjust to set it up, everything is push button to move and then locks in place. Fine if you want to set it up and leave it in a certain place, but it’s not user friendly portable. Meaning, every time I move and adjust myself, I have to adjust the book holder, therefore just adding more work than seems necessary.Very cool design and will work if that’s your purpose. It seems sturdy made of lightweight metal and plastic movable joints.

Saved my back
First reaction was that the material seems a little light (and cheap) — made me wonder if it’ll handle the books’ weight and how long it’ll last. But it has been working just fine for my daily use (to support/raise heavy textbooks off the low study table). Adjusting initially is awkward but once you understand how high and what angle works for you, it’s a breeze to adjust - just push your finger in the dial and rotate accordingly. I’ve used it on thick hard cover books and it does its job well. Saved my back from over-bending when I am reading or studying at the desk for hours. Well worth the small price tag!

unsafe and inconvenient with poor customer service
This item description states that it can be used anywhere, but that is not true. There is zero grip and it slides all over. It also says kids can use without issue, but this is not safe with the way it slides all around. Unfortunately mine slipped off my table while reading the Bible and it bent/ruined pages. It is also hard to adjust because you need to press the sides at the same time and it slides so it's hard to push at the same time. If you try one side at the time, you will likely pinch your finger. This product description is false and the item is inconvenient and unsafe. I reached out to seller and they only offered me $2 to purchase a nonslip mat for under it. They also stated they couldn't provide any refund because it is sold on Amazon, which I know us not true. After that they stopped replying to my messages all together.

Big help and sturdy
I help teach a Sunday School class, as as you know, the eyes need a bit of help as one grows older. This is VERY light weight, allows for easy set up and positioning in multiple ways, and securely holds notes or my Bible making it easier for me to see as I teach. Highly recommend.
