It’s extremely comfortable to carry, especially when worn as a backpack with both shoulder straps. The standout feature for me was the bottom panel that unzips completely, allowing the bag to fully air out and dry overnight. **Q: IS the zipper metal or plastic?**
A: The top actually ties. Inside there is a pocket that zips and it is a metal zipper. I bought the XL bag so that I could carry all of our stuff, (2 sets of snorkel gear, towels, and sunscreen and lotion. We have not gone on the trip yet, but this bag holds a lot of stuff, and its perfect for holding everything for excursions. It's 30" long. Like a backpack almost. (2) water battle holders, and a lot a room. Great bag.

**Q: Hello. Does this bag have a side zipper accessing the main compartment?**
A: Side zipper access is to independent pocket, not main compartment.

**Q: will this qualify for airline hand carry?**
A: Depends on how much you put in it.  It could possibly qualify as your carry on if you didn't stuff it.  It wouldn't fit under the seat.

**Q: Does the snorkerl bag have a dry compartment for keep personal items?**
A: There is a large interior pocket that runs full back length of the bag, it is roomy enough to keep your items.

This is HUGE!!! We fit four sets of snorkeling gear, 4 ship towels, and drinks into this thing and it all fit perfectly!!!! Instead of buying two snorkel book bags we got just one! Note that if you’re smaller than this might not be a good deal. Our son carried it and was fine. I’m shorter, not a varsity football player, and there’s no way I could have carried this.
