Will the older 3DS fit

Should pop in and stay in place but I am more then certain the game card slot and the stylus would be blocked in the old one as this has been designed for the “new” one

I play a lot of monster hunter but was wondering if this grip enlarges the 4 shoulder buttons at all as I find the zl/zr ones especially fiddley??

No, a lot of the grips that enlarge buttons cause problems later on, this grip will make it very comfortable to reach the shoulder buttons. I bought this for the exact reason, however there is an official one now on Nintendos website, only true difference is this also holds 2 games in the back.
