Super moist and rich!
It tasted so good, it was gone before I had a chance to take pictures, ha ha. I ordered again, plus in lemon flavor as well - once I make them I will add pics to my review.Instructions are easy to follow, I think it would be a great activity for kids. The flavor was spot on - chocolatee, rich, and moist. Loved it!

Quality, Carefully Considered Ingredients
When I first noticed the Elia cake mix become available, I was intrigued; I am also a fan of Mediterranean cooking and ingredients.A reading of the ingredients impresses as a carefully considered choice of high quality, non-gmo, organic, and non-artificial constituents. The supplied EVOO is also of a high quality, with the complex and slightly bitter taste typical of purity.I baked the cake exactly as the directions on the box specified, using whole milk, in an oven calibrated for correct temperature. It turned out perfectly cooked, although as a matter of opinion, I would probably knock 2 – 3 minutes off the time for a slightly moister result. I found it to be a of a slightly firmer texture than I usually expect of a cake, but still fluffy. As for the taste, and keeping in mind that I’ve never baked with olive oil as an ingredient before, I expected something more distinctive and exotic, but it was very similar to what I would expect of any chocolate cake. I could, as an after taste, discern the slight bitterness/pepperiness of the EVOO, but not the espresso that is listed as one of the ingredients. I appreciated the after taste of the EVOO, but it turned my wife off to the cake entirely. So, though subtle, there must be a distinctiveness to the flavor after all, albeit one that may make a strong impression one way or the other. I also appreciated that the cake is not overly sweetened. The cooking directions don’t recommend any ideas for a topping, but one could certainly try any number that might come to mind. In our case, I enjoyed it as is with an ice cream side. It’s texture and firmness also make it ideal for dipping. The Elia cake mix packaging is clean, with simple, modern graphics and recycled materials keeping in line philosophically with the approach they’ve used for their choice of ingredients; simple and straightforward.A suggestion for the seller would be to offer a sugar free version using a substitute such as erythritol, allowing them also to market the mix as being “Keto,” and more importantly, eliminating sugar. This would also expand their market to include diabetics. This could make a nice gift for someone that enjoys cooking new ideas or, prepared, brought to a get-together, pot luck, or the like.

100% worth the price
If you care about what you put in your body, then this is the cake for you. Only 9 ingredients (all of which I can actually pronounce). I wouldn't even put this in the same category as other boxed cakes from the grocery store... this is 1000x better. Not overly sweet which I love. Also side note: the packaging is literally stunning- the photos don't even do it justice.

Not that good
Overpriced. Not that good. Not moist. We made a lemon icing for it. Without that it would have been lousy. Save your money.

A great treat
I loved this cake. I made the vegan version for me, not my husband or kids but for me! The suggestions they provided were perfect and I especially loved the bottle of olive oil. I felt like I was on vacation, had the first piece with a glass of wine and saved the next piece for my morning coffee. I hope the brand comes out with its own olive oil. I will make again.

It's alright.
This is not quite what I expected from a very pricey box cake mix. It is pretty simple to make, with very limited ingredients to add to the dry mix.Egg, milk, and olive oil. It does call for buttermilk but allows regular milk too.I made mine with regular whole milk. The ingredients do list different cook times depending what type of milk you use.I made a mistake and cooked an extra 2 minutes. The instructions say to cook till middle is just set. I tested with a toothpick and it did not come out clean so I just cooked another 2 minutes. I should not have done this. It made the cake a little more dry than it should have been.It was still somewhat moist in the middle though. This cake has more of an olive oil/vanilla flavor. It is not very sweet at all so I would recommend icing it or dusting with powdered sugar.I did not detect any lemon flavor. The packaging is very pretty. It definitely looks upscale and would make a beautiful gift.Overall though, the packaging is definitely more impressive than the cake itself. So you are paying for the initial impression.

Don’t waste your money
This is a pricey cake mix and I was ok with that considering the ingredients were organic but was expecting great taste and texture for the price. I am disappointed with how it turned out, never buying again. I would spend that kind of money and get an olive oil cake from a good bakery.

Great gift idea
I had never heard of an olive oil cake before, but this was pretty good. The package presents really well and I think it would make a great gift. I am not sure I could find the flavor nuances of lemon and vanilla, but the cake itself has a subtle taste and the directions are clear and easy to follow.
