Couldn't put it down. Love the characters, the suspense, and the drama. The banter is entertaining, and the thrill of finding out which bully is doing the bullying is keeping me on the edge of my seat. I'm not really a fan of it being a three book thing for this couple to get their story out, but I guess three books brings more money than one.

-academia-enemies-Bully romance-cliffhangerI saw this book all over TikTok and decided to read it, and I'm so glad I did. It was entertaining, and the storyline was captivating. The emotional impact was intense; I felt terrible for Cadence. She endures so many hardships, yet she perseveres and tries to reassure her sister, Viola. She also has a good heart. Dutch is entitled man-child who i feel deserves everything he gets. He is only loyal to his brothers and will step on anyone who gets in the way or will use anyone.

Not too bad spoiler alert
It is my first read from the author. Where to start, the storyline and plot are not too bad, but I felt the entire story lingered longer than it generally should. I liked the author's creativity in creating a different type of high school story. The two main characters, Dutch and Cadence, love their music. The story revolves around a theme of music, bullying the scholarship, a difficult childhood and dysfunctional family household, and stage fright. Dutch from the moment he hears Cadence music he is enthralled and establishes a deep connection with Cadence through music. It is sweet. However, Dutch is conflicted between Cadence, the stage persona “Redwood,” and his loyalty to his best friend. With all this said, the book lingers to the point that is not necessary a cliffhanger. Yes, the book has a cliffhanger that I am not too happy about. There are no excruciating hot scenes but very mellow sex scenes. Most of the characters act as older individuals and not eighteen-year-olds. I admit that I had to skim some chapters because certain scenes and conversations were not crucial for understanding the story. I liked Cadence's character and how she stands up for herself and her sister.I will probably wait for book two in the series, but since the author announced that the release is towards the end of the year, I might lose interest in reading it or forget about it. I still do not understand how an author can write a book and then let the reader wait months or even a year for the continuation.

Better than I expected!
Was not expecting this ending but I was waiting for the day Cadence would get rid of her stage fright and show her true potential without having to be disguised. I love the banter and the fact that the chemistry is boiling but still has not reach steamy temp yet. I look forward to the rest of Cadence and Dutch's love/hate relationship.

This Is My Trope
First, I love high school stories. There's nothing like that first love that wrecks you. Two, make it a bully romance, and I'm in my happy place. Lastly, add o rock star into the mix, and I'm in heaven. There's something about a story that goes from pure hatred and negativity to like and protection. This story does that and more. This is my first time reading Nelia and she does not disappoint. Dutch is ruthless, talented, loyal and complicated. Cadence is introverted, self-conscious, down trodden, loving, self reliant and talented. Together they don't make dense. Apart, they make even less sense. They know they're doomed from the start. Add to that, that Dutch has feelings for two girls says a lot about the pull on him. Does this have an HEA? Not in this book, because we're left on a high note of confusion. Thanks, Nelia for writing such a great story. Here's a note for getting to a five star, have someone else do a final proof on the story. Typos and incorrect word usage are a little disconcerting, but in this case, it doesn't take away from the story. This isn't a spicy story. It hints at it, so here's hoping book two delivers on that front. Still I love this story and could not put it down. Enjoy.

holy cliffhanger
Ok so I need to start the next book now and it’s like 2 am . I am a sucker for a good bully romance and this one is epic. Dutch is so mean but nice at the same time. He doesn’t know what he wants to do. He wants to remain loyalTo his friend but he has these feeling for Cadence that he isn’t used too. Caday is a strong FMC . I love her character. I am looking forward to the rest of this series.
