Deep flavor = Deep love
I absolutely love this fish sauce. I find myself grabbing it for everything from eggs and meats to rice and soups. my only complaint is that I received the N40 instead of the N50 that was supposed to be in my order (Yes, I made sure in my orders, no I didn't miss click) but the product is so good and so unique I cant even bring myself to leave a 4 star rating. 10/10 will be buying again.

Jodon likes this.
Red Boat is really good. It upgrades instant Ramin perfectly. Not fishy tasting in cooking, just spectacular umami. A little goes far.

Adds umami flavor.
We like it a lot. A little goes a long way or it can be overpowering depending on what it is added to. Add it to soups, homemade salad dressing, gumbo, etc. but just a drop or two for salad dressing.

Tasty, salty, perfect!
If you love bold, umami-packed flavors, this fish sauce is top-tier. The 50°N rating means it’s super concentrated, giving dishes an incredible depth without needing much. It’s made with just two ingredients—black anchovies and salt—so there’s no weird additives, preservatives, or sugar. You can really taste the quality compared to regular fish sauces. That said, it’s strong. A little goes a long way, and if you’re not used to high-protein fish sauce, the intensity might surprise you. Also, it’s pricier than typical brands, but considering the purity and flavor, it’s worth it if you care about quality ingredients. Overall, this is the fish sauce to get if you want something truly premium. Great for dipping sauces, marinades, or adding a punch of umami.

Great fish sauce. But, The regular version is just as good.
There's only one problem with this sauce. The regular version is just as good and you get a bigger bottle for the same price. Don't get me wrong, this is the brand I always buy because it's the best on the market (I would buy this version every time if it wasn't for the regular stuff). But, the upgraded family reserve isn't any better than the regular stuff IMHO. If you want to compare between this version and the regular... This version is a bit less "fishy". It is slightly more unctuous, smoother, not so much in your face. It is wonderful as a flavoring, but stays a bit in the background, whereas the normal version is a bit more in your face flavor-wise.

Depth, rich flavor to stews, casserole, oriental dishes, mostly everything I cook.
Love love this fish sauce. The flavor it adds to my cooking is amazing and rich. Yes, it smells strong. But that is a natural product. It turns into magic in whatever I add it to in my cooking.

Great way to add a little umami
Perfect for adding umami to a sauce. Last night I used it in a beef-mushroom sauce for steak. On teaspoonful seriously enhanced the flavor and sophistication of the sauce. Red Boat has a useful cookbook of recipes that teaches you how to use the sauce, if you're not familiar with it.
