WEP 858D Hot Air Rework Soldering Station with Temperature Control, Adjustable Air Volume, Digital Display for SMD Soldering with 3 Extra Hot Air Nozzles

The workstation seems to have good temperature control (though I have not confirmed it with a thermometer) as it works predictably and repeatably with soldering and desoldering tasks.I bought this so that I could replace the SMD relays inside a very expensive audio analyzer. I practiced first on an old VGA card and found that 640°F seemed to be the best balance between speed and preserving the components. I used the small tip so far and it gave good control.I think this will also be useful for getting into those tight spaces where I to apply heat shrink tubing.The unit heats up in seconds and is very quiet in operation. The low fan setting is low enough to avoid blowing the component off the board.The handpiece shuts off and goes into high fan (cooldown) mode automatically when placed on the stand. It seems to have an angle sensing device that only puts it in cool down when the handpiece is in the precise position of storage.If I were to be nitpicking, I'd say the mounting of the nozzles is a bit crude with something like a stove bolt holding it together, but other than that, for the price I paid and the work I was able to do, this was well worth the purchase.

Heats fast .. I like the feature when you put nozzle on hanger it cuts off automatic and starts back up when you take off hanger.!

I dislike the awkward feeling of holding the blower. It feels like it could be more ergonomic. It seems huge for the job it performs (pushing air over a coil) I also dislike the cheap way the attachments are clamped to the tool end. A snap connection would be an improvement over the nut and bolt clamp. Aside from this the tool works well. It heats fast and has a good range of blower speed. It seems to have an even/accurate heat range. I also wish there was a safety switch so the blower cannot be inadvertently activated while resting on the base. It seems this could become a fire hazard if the switch gets bumped. The way the blower rests on side of unit points it directly into the back wall of my desk. I am unplugging it when not in use.

Worked for what I needed for and build quality seems solid. Seems to hold temperature consistently.

This hot air rework station is relatively inexpensive and built well. I really like the included accessories and the adjustability of the unit. I believe I will get many years of service from it. Highly recommended, especially for Amazon's low listed selling price.
