Is the motor reversible?

Yes. the motor is reversible. Reversal of lines 5 and 8 result in direction of motor rotation. Line 5 is the black wire and Line 8 is the red. You can also change it to run on 220 (single phase) from the delivered configuration of 110V.

Are there any sanding belts included with purchase?

No. Given the range of potential uses, I'm not sure that included belts would be valuable to most buyers. I use everything from 120 grit to 1200 grit belts as well as scotchbright belts on metal. This is a great machine, by the way. I use it for sanding, sharpening and polishing.

For purely knife sharpening, is this worth the extra dough over the $50 green 1x30 imports?

If you"re talking about the green one that I think you are which runs between $60 -$80, then yes absolutely. I bought the green one first and it was garbage. Belts were hard to get on, tension adjustment on it is garbage. Also the belts kept breaking and the platen wasn't lined up well and the belt bit into it. I just bought the Kalamazoo a month ago (for knife making,grinding,sharpening etc.) and I love it. It's well worth the extra $$$

can the table be secured at a 90 degree angle to the belt, and will the table stay put?

Yes, 90 deg and secure. Only issue, if you have a long piece, it will hit the motor housing on the left side of the table.
