Well pleased.
Sent me an email, apologising for running late, but in fact it was well early. As described by seller, though I have yet to play it. Only then will I really know if it just looks good.

House - Season 4 - Upping the Ante
Season 3 ends with House's three interns either being fired or quitting and I wasn't sure whether I'd like the change in dynamics that comes with Season 4. I must admit that I was glad there wasn't a cosy Episode 1 that conveniently reunites the old team again but I did have reservations about swapping out three familiar faces with three new ones. However, the interview process that House creates is genius (classic House!) and plays up brilliantly to the ongoing power struggle between House and Cuddy. And yes, Wilson still gets caught in the middle... There is character development for almost all of the central characters. Previous seasons have enjoyed taking House on a "journey" and this happens again to some degree with the selection of the new interns. The series was cut short by the US writers strike, so it is sadly only half the length that we were expecting but it makes up for it with an incredible two-part finale that blew me away. I won't risk any spoilers but suffice to say these two episodes take House to a whole new level and have seriously raised the bar for Season 5!!

House Remodelled
Anybody who has seen the first three seasons of House has come to expect the sarcasm and caustic humour that Hugh Laurie has brought to the role and this season continues in the same vein and so won't disappoint on that front.I was concerned with how they would continue the series following the end of the third season with the resignation of all his staff. So, thankfully with this season they have taken the chance to change direction and in the most part it works. Series regulars Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer are reduced to recurring characters which is disappointing but it gives the chance to bring in a string of new characters as House plays the game of recruiting his new staff; while losing his fragile grip on reality even more than usual.I didn't enjoy it as much as the first three seasons. This could be due to the writer's strike of that year leading to it being cut short (only 16 episodes compared to the 22-24 of previous ones) and the story rushed. Still excellent television though.

IMPORTANT WARNING FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THIS SEASON...
Great season, despite being short. If you've enjoyed the previous three seasons then you know exactly what you're getting here, but with enough new twists to keep things fresh. However, the designers of the box set need a serious kicking for putting series spoilers on the back cover of the DVD. Considering the first 8 episodes or so concern themselves with House whittling down a group of 40 interviewees reality show-style, does it really make sense to show the actors who eventually "win" alone on the back cover? If, like me, you have not seen this season before you buy the box-set, I highly recommend that you avoid looking at the back of either the box or the individual sleeves for the first 8 episodes to maximise your enjoyment.Still, I can't decrease the score due to some idiot's design choices. Great season!

House Season 4
Hugh Lawrie is brilliant, as usual, as Dr Gregory House. There's the added drama of choosing a new team following the departure (or not...) of Chase, Cameron and Foreman. For those of you who are more observant, you'll figure out who House's new team members are before they're announced in the show. The new characters are excellent and add a new dimension to the show. This season has it all. Laughs, satire, a love interest for House, tragedy and perhaps a few chinks in the House armour as he appears to mellow and actually 'care' for his patients. Enjoy season 4 of House.... I did and would recommend it to all fans of hospital drama and Hugh Lawrie. To the producers of the show, I'd love to see Stephen Fry or Rowan Atkinson do a cameo role.....

best house since season one
BEST HOUSE SINCE SERIES ONE! this is so light and new! brand new. i felt that new characters would spoil the plot but i havent missed chase and co. at all although they are still floating around in some scenes. this series is so upbeat and interesting and once again house is onn top form, it was a bit depressing to watch him have his ego bruised previously and become so devious i began to side with cuddy and wilson. i notice in this series he suddenly gets much healthier but i let that slide and there is less emphasis on the pill popping aspect of his character and more of a contrast in his ever increasing interest in patients. comparing his bedside manner to season one and he's almost an angel lol ... enjoy

A lot to enjoy but there are some real irritations too
I enjoyed this very much for the most part, but the business with the new recruits and whittling them down to a sensible number became very tedious. The premise was silly and although a certain amount of silliness is part of the joke in House, it went too far for me. I was so bored with those bits that I completely lost track of who was kept on the team, who was discarded and why.Having said that I enjoyed the medical problems and diagnoses, the banter, and all of the high drama. The last episodes of this series were typically over the top but very gripping.House remains a great series. Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein continue to bounce off each other brilliantly, and Robert Sean Leonard as Wilson continues to be the perfect foil for his unreasonable friend.

Absolutely Superb!
I read up on season four before I purchased it, and found that many had said it had a very different feel to the previous three, and they were right. If you saw the end to S3, then you would expect a contrast to the normal running of each episode, which some have said takes the flavour away from what House really is.I disagree. If anything, breaking the formulaic style to each episode was one of the best things the writers have done, and was one of the main reasons why I watched the whole boxset in a couple of days!I strongly advise any House fan who hasn't bought this already to do so.My favourite season so far.
