Bought this for my mini PC to play retro emulated games. Comes well packaged. Flashed image to this drive with no issues and performed well for the price

I'll start with the only problem I had with this. I had to initialise the drive to be able to install the BIOS on to this SSD. I did this through windows as I don't know any other way of doing it, I had a spare HDD available to be able to install windows on initially, which was the easiest option for me. Someone recommended using a version of linux running from a USB drive to initialise and format the drive but I don't have much experience with Linux so decided against it. I also had to update my BIOS as my PC wouldn't even boot with the drive in the M.2 slot, so I would do that on your system before attempting to install this drive (obviously this depends on how new your motherboard is). Other than that, the drive has been perfect since. 1TB has been enough for installing all my games and a few clips from it. And this drive has great boot times for both Windows and my games. Astonishing difference between this and a HDD. Ultimately, great drive, just a bit of a faff for me to install in my system, you may not have these issues, and I also had similar issues with a drive I had bought for a previous system, so I suspect this is the case with all NVME drives on the market so don't let this review deter you.

This model has very good reviews against top dogs such as Samsung. Unless you're doing high demand workloads and transferring loads of heavy files, this SSD is more than enough for the average user. My games load A LOT faster compared to my external SSD at 300MB/s - as my previous storage unit burned out. Warranty life is a lot lower in comparison against other brands, and also the lack of Cache chip makes it reliant on its own storage space to buffer some work. As soon you reach over 75% of storage, the transfer speeds will plummet below 100MB/s. Transfer speeds are very consistent, making it a perfect unit for booting and running applications from it, as long you're not looking to fill it to the brim. It's very good money for value when it comes to performance.

The laptop that I have been using for the last four years was running out of space. The operating system also needed a rebuild and I was worried about the possibility of losing valuable material during an upgrade, so I decided to replace the existing storage with new, faster and larger capacity SSDs and retain the old devices in external caddies. The process went cleanly and I now have a fast PC with plenty of free storage. The Crucial devices were easy to install and seem to perform well.

Put it in rp5 and installed OMV and its been running ever since. setup a usb as a backup drive however seems to work well for what I wanted. Not sure about performance for a gaming setup since I got a faster one for my PC but is great for price and storage imo

Very quick, gets the job done and deserves the tag as the best budget NVMe and best way to speed up your computer with ease. Micron really did well.
