Does is it work with steering controls?

No it's just an audio cable like plugging in headphones to your device, you remove the stereo plug it into the back, thread it through the dashboard and plug your device into it and play music. This will only work with the UPDATE LIST Renault stereo not the older tuner lists. Before you buy hold the musical note icon on the stereo until it beeps and cycle through the Expert menu if the aux setting is there then this will work. However if the option to enable aux is missing then this kit won't work. Hope this helps.

Would this be suitable for Renualt scenic 09 reg

Should fit, it works perfect on my 09 trafic , you will need an "update list" button on your radio for it to work .
