Underestimated tool
Finding out your tyres are bald while skidding on a wet or icy road is a horrific experience—whether you crash, hit someone, or simply terrify yourself and your passengers. A sudden emergency stop reveals the truth quickly; with deep tread, you’re safe; with low tread, you’re in trouble. Buying this device is a much cheaper alternative to an accident. This isn't catastrophising. Tread depth can be dangerously low without it being obvious to the naked eye. Owning this tool proves you’re taking responsibility for the only four points of contact between your car and the road. Don’t wait for a MOT or service to find a problem. Performance & Build: The product is small, simple, and affordable, providing perfectly readable digital results. While the battery life is unknown, the draw is so low it should last ages. (I’ve considered storing the battery externally with Blu-tack to avoid any potential leaks). Ease of Use: It’s incredibly quick. Turn it on, extend the spike, zero it on a flat surface, then push the spike into the tyre groove. It toggles easily between millimetres and inches. I performed a full "tyre audit" and discovered that after a puncture replacement, I needed to swap an 8mm rear tyre to the front to balance out the depths across the axles. The Essentials: Clear Display: Easy to read in low light. Well-Made: Feels sturdy, though not waterproof. Proactive: I’ll be finding a small case for it and setting a recurring reminder to check my depths. The Maths of Safety: On average, you get 2,000 to 4,000 miles per millimetre. While 1.6 mm is the legal minimum, 3 mm is considered the "professional basement" for safety. Don’t gamble on that last 1.4 mm. Verdict: Very pleased. Simple, effective, and essential.

Simple tool that saved me a lot of money
I bought this tyre tread depth gauge to check my tyres before booking in for replacements, and it ended up saving me a good £250. What I thought were “near-limit” tyres still had plenty of legal tread left, so this paid for itself instantly. The gauge is easy to use and gives a clear digital reading in both mm and inches. Measurements seem consistent across all tyres, and it’s reassuring to have an actual number rather than relying on visual checks or the advice of a garage. The screen is clear and easy to read, even in low light. Build quality is decent for the price. It’s lightweight and feels a bit plasticky, but it does the job accurately enough for home checks. The zero/reset function works well, although it’s worth double-checking readings if you’re moving quickly between tyres. Overall, a very handy tool for anyone who wants to keep an eye on tyre wear and avoid unnecessary replacements. Not premium-grade, but excellent value and genuinely useful — just short of five stars.

Seems pretty well perfect.
Seems Ok and accurate when compared with the readings given by the dealer when the car was serviced by a main dealer. I don't recognise some of the negative comments and I'm guessing some people have just not read the instructions correctly, works fine for me.

Mixed
Accurate and I like and dislike the auto on feature. It is handy to not have to remember to press the on button but is very sensitive so turns on easily by accident and then you have to zero it when you reset. We have large wheel arches and I struggle to fit this in as well, and it is difficult to retain the read when removing it to view.

Easy to use, great value for money
I use this for my motorcycles, truck and car. The range is sufficient even for a dirt bike or truck and accuracy good enough for a street bike. It shows both inches and millimeters and switching between is simple. No multi button magic required. Neat feature is that you can zero it at any point and use it to get “negative” readings on all kinds of grooves and dings. For example finding differences in depths.

All you will ever need for tire tread measuring.
First thing about this tread depth gauge is that is highly visible. Second, is that it came with a spare battery which is nice. Third is that the display is nice and big for viewing. Can be switched between inches and MM's. The instructions are clear and well written. Other than that it seems to be similar or the same as other tread depth gauges on amazon. You can't go wrong buying this gauge. No 32nds though, but I think if your measuring 32nds on a tire you should just change them out!
