Flageolet 6578 Bb Brass Whistle

I have expensive whistles in D, low D, low G etc but was looking for a particular sound. Generation whistle seemed to get mixed reviews. It played spot on out the box, easy to play, easy on the fingers( I have arthritis), played upper octive with ease. It has a softer tone( especially on the high notes). For the price, you cannot go wrong.Paddy Maloney ( Chieftans) played one. The Bb flat is nicer for classical or jazz but equally plays ' King of the Fairies', - it's a tin whistle.Downside they are manufactured ++ . Mine arrived with a tiny 'pimple' of plastic on the fipple but I can live with it! ( -till it wears down!). It did not affect the playing or sound of the whistle.).Delivery was quicker than estimated.Very pleased.

I have just bought a Generation Bb and Feadog C to compliment my current Clarke sweet tone D and Dixon low D.Ergonomically, the mouthpiece is quite bulky and I think it feels a little clumsy. The holes are a lot bigger than those of a C or D whistle, and the bottom hole can sometimes be a bit tough to cover completely, yielding some some rather horrible results! This is just down to practice, though.On playing it, I cannot fault the tone. It has a lovely warm and mellow feel that carries through from the low register to the top of the higher register and is solid throughout.Overall, this whistle sounds great, but it's a bit more on the tricky side to play than a C or D, so if you're after a first whistle, go for a D like the one below. This is my first Generation whistle. I had always been put off them by the mixed reviews Generation whistles seem to get. I went for this whistle because there doesn't seem to be a big choice of whistles in this key, so I thought lets try one, after all Generation whistles have been played by some of the greatest players that I know of. There was no need to be concerned this whistle is great, even in the hands of a novice like me.

Generation whistles are always reliable. I have used them for years.

I bought this to bond with a parrot and it's done really well, thanks for the bargain.

Intonation is great.Sounds good.Highly recommended.
