Goddess in the Stones: Travels in Eastern India: Bihar and Orissa

A bit dated, but very interesting look at tribal people in India. After reading it, I went to the tribal area of Orissa and met some of the people. The book was great preparation.

Anyone who is familiar with Norman Lewis knows what to expect: crystal clear prose, consistent insight and an eye for that telling detail. They're all here in hsi survey of a part of india seldom visited or written about.I lived in India for a year and wish I had 10% of Lewis' ability to summarise what it's like. I don't, but I have his words, so that's better.

Im not finding it that easy to read, not really what i expected but will stick with it, not that far into it yet
