How to find the paddle you think is missing!
I like the process of making bread by hand so I wasn't sure I'd gel with this bread maker but I also knew I'd eat more home made bread if I had a machine doing some of the work for me. But I have found it easy to use. I initially thought I hadn't been given the paddle as I couldn't find it in anywhere in the box despite a long search. It was only when I was throwing out the polystyrene bits that I realised the blade was bedded (intentionally) almost completely in one of them. I imagine a lot of people have accidentally thrown it away - would be helpful if the instructions told you where it was. Apart from that was easy to put together. Capacity - the machine makes 750g and 1kg loafs - it would be easier for converting recipes if the two sizes had been the standard 1lb (400g) and 2lb (800g) but I use the Wright's, Tesco and Sainsbury's own label bread mixes using the instructions the packages give for 2lb loaves with the larger 1kg programme and it's worked fine keeping an eye on it near the end. The loaf in the picture was my first attempt using a recipe of my own, bit wonky but tasted great. Not had any problem with texture. The instruction book tip of getting the right temp for added water is worth using in order for the yeast to work at its best - use 2 parts cold water to 1 part boiling. Not had any problem cleaning this or getting the bread out with a good shake and a spatula to ease the edges free of tin but the paddle nearly always sticks in the loaf. Not difficult to get out - they include a hook to do this - but it means a slight deformity in the bottom of a couple of slices ish. My friend tells me you can stop the machine at a certain point after mixing is complete to remove the mixing paddle and then no hole will be visible but I generally don't bother. Comes with paper instruction booklet with several recipes including for jam, a cake, and gluten free bread. I've only tried the basic white loaf from that and it was nicely textured and tasty.

Simple reliable and effective
I spent time researching a bread maker that was a good price and simple to use- this is exactly what I wanted and this bread maker is perfect. It comes with the recipes for each type of program, just follow them and a perfect loaf every time. Takes about 2.5-3hrs for a standard loaf from start to finish. The pizza dough function is about 1.5 hours and makes lovely dough. The bread pan is easy to hand wash and the paddle has never been stuck in the bread once. I am only following the guides recipes and as I’m not sure if my own recipes will work and it advises against doing this. If you wanted to be more adventurous with your bread then maybe this is not the bread maker for you, but if you’re after a simple quick machine that makes every day bread then this is perfect. I cannot stand shop bread now, tastes awful after eating this bread!

Not good -Russell Hobbs Breadmaker
This bread maker is lightweight, cheap feeling and tinny. It is so noisy I doubt anyone could sleep while it is working. There are mistakes in the recipes. Amounts are given by both weight and by tea/tablespoon measurement. Several bear no resemblance to each other- for instance 3/4 of a table spoon of dried milk powder weighs 4 grams and not 16 as stated in the recipe so stick to either using the weighing method or the spoon measurement. Don't mix them.My previous break maker was a Panasonic and there is absolutely no comparison between these two machines.Although the basic loaf was ok, the rapid loaf was a disaster, probably due to the mistakes in the recipe.I cannot recommend this bread maker.

Russell Hobbs are good bread makers
I got this today 21/3/25 i have just made my first 1kg medium crust loaf , it turned out well , it all comes down to the bred ingredients that you use ,, don't blame the machine .

Vitamin c powder
Works well but the bread needs vitamin c and milk powder added otherwise bread is not good vitamin c powder helps with rising. Use good yeast quick acting essential.

Good basic bread-maker
Good range of functions, but we mainly use the dough setting for pizza bases which is fine and the white loaf setting. The bread loaf is a slightly denser texture than with our previous bread-maker which we think is due to the fact that it does not prove it for as long and the cook time is reduced. Our old bread-maker took 3 hours 20 mins and this one is just 3 hours. It is quieter than our previous one, does the job but overall the results are not quite so good. The tool to help remove the paddle is useful but does scratch the coating off the paddle if you’re too heavy handed with it.
