Perfect moisture cover
We had a gnat problem where we live last spring. Bought these to help with that. Not only did they stop the gnats from laying their eggs in my plants it also helped the plants hold moisture. They also look so pretty

Perfect for Terrariums and for Top Dressing
These are a fraction of the size of the Leca that is most commonly used for Hydroponic plantings. I very much like the texture of these, as it is very similar but finer than the regular Leca. It feels like it is a ceramic structure as well. The pastel colors make a delightful accent for top dressing potted plants and to add a fresh element in the bottom of terrariums for drainage. The example I included is a limited use, but I will be making a more layered one soon, with these as the false bottom. I plan to use these in my glass cuttings vases too.I really like these and will be finding all kinds of uses for them!Probably ordering more soon.

Not like Leca
Doesn't hold onto moisture for long. Seems like it's just meant as decoration rather than what I was hoping for.

Not expanded clay
The product description is not accurate. These are in no way expanded clay balls or like traditional leca, which is what the description indicates. These are extremely dense and not at all absorbent or aerating in the way that leca needs to be for hydroponic/semi-hydroponic use. I’d wanted to switch my orchids from bark and sphagnum and since I have some orchids with small, delicate root systems (not like typical phalanopsis roots) these looked appealing to fit into areas that regular expanded clay balls would leave large gaps. I’m extremely disappointed because I am unable to use these and due to work travel obligations I didn’t have a chance to take a look at this package until recently and it’s far beyond the return window now. These are literally just small balls of baked colored clay, not expanded. They are very dense and heavy compared to expanded clay and should not be advertised as expanded clay.Edit- it appears as though the product description has been updated to an accurate description. Obviously too late to be of help for my needs but hopefully will prevent others from ending up with a different product than expected.
