I was lucky enough to receive the lamp in excellent condition. Everything worked as it should and the bulb worked well out of the box. My lamp was also remarkably clear compared to what I had seen in other reviews. The heat level at about 7 hours of runtime was starting to overheat the wax very slightly so I purchased a dimmer switch and now it runs perfect. I have 2 of these now and both look and perform as they should. Old school cool.

Ive gotten many hours of good use out of this lamp. I enjoy its colors and presentation.I did make the mistake of shaking the liquid while hot once. It took a lot of heating/cooling cycles, but eventually all the small particles did settle out and return to the large mass of oil.Would buy again.

I bought this the other day, it came in the mail I pulled it in before bed. When I woke up the lamp was still on but nothing was flowing in the lamp like a lava lamp should work. Lamp seems very cheap compared to the old ones. I tried to find a way to contact the seller but could not find any contact information. I will be returning this item as it does not work out of the box. Sad the original lava lambs from back in the day were way better quality and actually worked out of the box for years.

I will say this, if you are thinking about getting a lava lamp, this is one to get. It is amazing, but it has some faults to attend to.The first being that the bulb is wrong. It ships with a standard appliance bulb, which is fine, it will work. I had mine burn out the second time I used it. I do not fault the maker for that though as sh!t happens. I replaced the bulb with a shaped bulb specifically for a lava lamp, and it looks much better.The second being hot. The first time I used it, the lamp got so hot that all of the goop went to the top and wouldn't come down. Its slightly better with the new light but still overheats. I just drilled a small hole in the base above the cord. I am hoping this will allow air in to vent around the glass causing it to stay slightly cooler. If that doesnt work, I'm going to get an inline dimmer switch.

It's the classic. I bough a blue and this orange/red one.For those that don't know the rules... Don't shake it up. It take HOURS to fully heat up and get working.These have been running for 6 months now and they are doing great. No issues. They are a fun nightlight for my sons.

Cool lava lamp

Unfortunately, I may have have received a bad unit. I purchased this as a gift for my grandson after reading the reviews. So far, the lava doesn’t move as it should. And the second time, my daughter said the lava went to the top and was the lamp itself was very cloudy. The instructions said if it’s cloudy, to leave it on for ten hours straight. So she said she would give it another try before contacting the manufacturer or returning.Hopefully that it will clear up. We’ll see
