Decent neck fan!
Let’s just get this out the way immediately - this is NOT portable air conditioning. This is a neck fan with a peltier cooling plate at the back.At nearly 5x the price of this, I couldn’t quite bring myself to justify buying a RANVOO product, so I thought I’d give this one a go.My body tends to run quite hot and once the climate is above 25’c I begin to find it difficult to cope.I bought this in preparation for the 40’c temperatures of Bali but in honesty…it was little match for the scorching temps and the ultra high humidity. It might have taken the slightest of edges off, but the only real solution for that onslaught is real air conditioning. When outside, the fan tends to blow warm-ish air to your face and even a gentle breeze re-directs most of the fans efforts away or towards your ears.Build quality seems fine and the shielded fans give me confidence that anyone with hair long enough to reach them likely won’t end up tangled.Where this does excel, is in inside or in the shade! The naturally cooler air increases its effectiveness. Working at my desk, I am significantly cooler - to the point where I haven’t felt the need to switch on a bigger mains powered fan until it’s time to recharge. There are three settings for fan speed, with the higher number denoting the faster mode:F1F2F3A quick double tap on either button displays the remaining battery percentage, although you will have to remove the unit to see the screen.I was also dubious of the ‘cooling plate’ but I am happy to report it not just works!? It works well! Peltier devices are quite clever and once engaged, it’s cold to the touch. There are claimed settings and temps so I used my digital infrared thermometer to confirm. I licked a small piece of paper and attached it to the plate. After leaving each mode engaged for 3 minutes, I took a reading:C1 - claimed 25’c - actual 27.1’cC2 - claimed 20’c - actual 21.7’cC3 - claimed 15’c - actual 17.2’cThat’s pretty decent!? And in all honesty, I think the temps may be cooler than indicated as a wet piece of paper is probably not a decent conduit…Infrared thermometers struggle on reflective surfaces anyway (which I know, as I took a reading of my Ooni pizza ovens door when it was fired up, also some kind of polished steel, and it read a surprisingly low temp) well it wasn’t and my seared thumb can attest! It is refreshingly cool against your neck, and I found myself occasionally twisting the unit so that the cooling plate was against the side of my neck/throat.At full tilt, the battery does deplete quite quickly but on low settings you’ll get many hours. I’d recommend you keep a portable battery handy, especially one with a PD USB C outlet to help re-juice this fan whenever possible.Bumbling around my house in a British heatwave, doing chores I was significantly more comfortable. If I could change one thing though - it would be that it could operate whilst charging. I’d keep a battery pack in my pocket and run a usb c wire up my shirt (like we all used to with headphone wires!) and enjoy the cooling, not fretting about the battery level.Good purchase - set your expectations to what this is, a neck fan with a peltier cooling plate, and I doubt you’ll be disappointed!

Cool airflow around head
Works really well. Good for sitting reading and working. Not suitable for watching TV or listening to dialogue as even on lowest setting it interferes with hearing. Cool plate is a welcome addition. Lasts about 5 hours on lowest setting plus cool plate for one charge.

The chill setting is well worth the purchase.
This neck fan is quite heavy but not too heavy. It is quite big in size. You do know you have it around your neck. It has three speed settings which are quite powerful. as well as a chill setting. The chill setting is great. It is a plate that rests on the back of your neck and does a really good job. The fan is quite noisy hence only 4 stars.I bought an as new fan but it wasn’t as new. It was in a broken box and it was grubby. I would say it was in used condition.

Excellent cooler
This is one of the best things for a hot summer .The cooling plate eases the heat on the back of the neck whilst the air flow around the head from the fans, gives colling relief.Really light too considering it's constructin.

It's heavy and larger than I thought
It looks good and well made. It is heavier than I thought so might not be comfortable if worn for a long time. There are not as many vents as I thought there would be and they are angled such that they blow up over my ears and into my hair. Therefore holding a conversation if on the high speed setting is challenging. The cooling plate is great, just wish there were some downward vents as well as upward facing ones.It is okay for the money, but it could be better to be honest.

Game changer if you struggle in the heat
I have been really impressed with this. I hate heat but somehow found myself on 2 holidays at 35 degerees plus. This fan really helped. The game changer is the cool strip at the back of the neck. I sometimes just used this and it was enough at times and preserved the battery allowing me to use the fan when the heat was really bad.

Please read & thank me later.
I struggle to regulate my temperature & a neck fan can be a godsend but sadly not this one. If you buy one with the cold plate, it makes it twice the weight of the others, which to me cancelled any slight benefit.I also found that the air didn’t quit go in the right direction for my needs. Just going up my face became annoying. There is a fair bit of noise too with this style of neck fan & yes I expect some but I’ve now tried several & they vary considerably. I’d definitely recommend these but not this type as you need one that blows air where you want it.I have 2 & one is like this without the cooling pad but has propellors you pull out & can direct which is good but has some of the same noise issue when on higher speeds. By far the best is the ones with 2 mini fans on the ends you bend up & direct where you want. Trust me, I’ve shown several women of a certain age, who suffer with "power surges”, & they all agree it’s no contest. They not only do a better job, but are quieter & lighter. being of a certain age means I don’t care what others think I look like with one on, as it beats having sweat dripping down my face, & if summer ever actually arrives, I’ll be doubly happy.(Also much cheaper -£13, yet identical from certain Team-you places ).
