Although this set of plastic bags by The Original Funky Mailing Bag is meant to be used for sending parcels in the mail, really, these postal sacks are the lazy person's alternative wrapping paper of choice. Think about it. Paper gift bags tend to have unforgiving dimensions and wrapping something in a carrier bag is a sure-fire way to make even the most thoughtful of presents look like you picked it up at a corner shop or petrol station five minutes ago. If you don't have the time or inclination to cut decorative paper and to non-standard dimensions, this product is a nifty little life hack.The plastic material has a gold gift-wrapped present motif emblazoned on a vibrant blue background, which is suitably generic for any special occasion be it Christmas, birthday or a more personal anniversary. If you were to actually put a filled sack in the mail rather than handing it directly to the recipient, I would be concerned that the design draws a little too much attention to its contents, particularly if there's any chance it would sit unattended at its destination. I've had fairly innocuous and unexciting packages stolen from outside my property, so I wouldn't feel comfortable sending a parcel with such a bold "look at me" outer design via a courier service which might leave it on a doorstep. Just something to bear in mind if you do indeed want to post these!The printed label on the front of the bag which is intended for a postal address looks like a gift tag. As far as makeshift and hassle-free wrapping paper goes, this really ticks all the boxes. There's a space on the back too where you can write the return-to-sender details or a cute little message. Writing directly onto the material with a ball point pen is easy to do, although as you'd probably expect, it's easier to write on the bags before you fill them.Floppy things like jumpers which don't hold up to normal wrapping without first cutting two pieces of cardboard to size to give some support are easily folded and inserted into one of these bags. Awkwardly shaped items also slip in without any issues and thanks to the positioning of the writing space on the front and back of the bag, if you want to use the self-sealing strip to seal it up in a way that makes it smaller, that's not a problem, you don't end up hiding part of either label. The bags are really flexible.I may not be using these sacks as the manufacturer intended, but I'm nonetheless satisfied and I would purchase them again. It's definitely worth keeping a stash of some in a drawer for gift wrap emergencies. Don't knock it 'til you try it!Please note, I received this product free in exchange for an honest review.
