One Plus N30 5G

I bought this phone in August and have been using it daily for 4 months now. In short, the Nord N30 5G meets all of my needs, and I'm very impressed with the quality. I chose this phone after reading reviews on a tech blog website, comparing phones from OnePlus and various other brands. My two biggest criteria were: 1. Low cost, and 2. Long battery life. I don't care much about high camera quality or screen quality, or running high-spec games. I really just needed a phone that could handle running important apps like GPS/navigation, phone calling, and internet browsing for a long time during a long workday -- without overheating or draining the whole battery quickly. I just had way less stress all around with this new phone when using it for work or leisure. Positives: Everything positive I read online was indeed true. The CPU chip seems good -- The apps I use the most load quickly, and don't cause each other to crash when running at the same time. This is especially important when you must use bloated or optimized apps. The overall battery life is huge, and the battery recharges VERY quickly with the high-speed red cable. There's a lot of internal storage by default, so I won't have to worry about external memory for a while. The screen seems bright enough and high-resolution enough for me. When I use the camera, the pictures usually come out clear despite unsteady hands. Sound quality is great. User controls make sense, though I had to get used to a few new swipe motions. It's working just fine on my local Verizon network. Physical buttons for power and volume, wired headphones port. Concerns: This phone is heavier than any of my previous phones, so that takes some getting used to. There are various system options for changing how notifications and notification sounds work for the whole system or for individual apps, but the sub-menus all look similar and I have difficulty understanding which settings are taking priority. Finally, the physical volume and power buttons are positioned perfectly across from each other so you can click them to take a photo or screenshot -- however, this means it's very easy to accidentally do that when just trying to pick the phone up or pull it out of your pocket. In conclusion, I highly recommend this phone if you need a new work phone and you're trying to make ends meet.

I think this phone is a great value and it performs almost as good as a flagship, it's not quite a snappy, it takes a little longer to restart, but if you're into Mobile gaming I can play games like csr2 racing and war robots which are very graphic intensive games and most budget phones can't even come close playing those without a bunch of lag and stuff and this phone is killing it for playing those games but with a 600 Snapdragon inside I'm not surprised Some of my other budget phones would lock up when trying to do something as simple as scroll through Amazon listings on the Amazon app but this phone just works great, it's a very very very good phone and you're not going to find a better value than this honestly, I've had some similar phones and they were nowhere near as good this thing just rocks for what it is kind of a great value,. I think the screen looks great, the colors are great and the camera takes nice pictures but if you're going to be taking photos of anything moving make sure you turn it over to pro mode because if you're trying to take a picture of an animal or something that's moving in almost always turns out blurry so you want to set your shutter speed to stop motion which it won't do in the manual mode from what I've noticed so that's my only complaint is the camera always takes blurry photos unless you set the shutter speed manually in pro mode but it's a great phone and you should definitely get one of these babies if you're in need of a really nice phone in this class

I'll try to keep the review short and sweet. For $300, this is a great phone for the price. Coming from a $1k+ flagship (I broke the screen and was quoted $350+ for replacement) there are some drawbacks but that is to be expected. Positives; the specs are amazing, the battery lasts about 8 hours using it all day and charges fast, actually comes with a charger (unlike some trillion dollar companies), and it has headphone jack + expandable storage. I don't think there is much room to complain at this price point but I will still go over my least favorite aspects on this phone. The OnePlus UI/operating system is clunky, I prefer other Android phones. The power button is on the exact opposite side of the volume button, thus I have accidentally screenshotted dozens of times trying to power off the screen. Comes with all the Google bloatware you can think of. Camera quality is decent but definitely on the lower end, especially with competition from other cheap phones like Pixel. Would prefer a brighter screen. Main speaker on the bottom right... same spot I usually hold my phone so it muffles it a lot. Overall a good phone for the money, a great backup phone, but I might have skipped and bought something for a little more have I known the quirks about it.

I have this phone for a few months now and for the price, this is a great phone. I was looking for something that wasn't one of the mainstream brands like Samsung, Apple, etc. I like the features (decent storage, can use external storage, large screen, comes unlocked, good battery life with quick charging, various widgets, so many settings, and more) and the lack of "bloatware" that comes with the phone. There are 2 things that I don't like about the phone compared to my last one (Google Pixel 3). 1, that I was aware of from other reviews, is the camera is not the best. Sometime you need some really good light for the picture to come out decent, otherwise pictures can be rather dark. I find myself editing them often to brighten them up. That and it lacks the crispness that you can get with phones like the Google Pixel and others. Besides that, it has some cool camera options, like professional mode (which if I learned how to use that I'm sure my images would come out a bit brighter), macro, others, and some of the editing tools are pretty cool. And 2, something that bugs me enough to note it here, is the responsiveness of the screen. I don't think it is an app issue as it has happened with multiple apps, but sometimes while swiping in a direction, it doesn't always respond the way I want it to. For example, I use Spotify very frequently, and it's where I get annoyed at this issue the most. In Spotify, when you are viewing a song you can swipe from right to left to change a song, or swipe down to get out of the song view, taking you back to a menu screen. So many times, it does not register my swipe to the left, instead it registers it as a downswipe, exiting the screen I was on. And like I said, this happens with other apps too, where I'm trying to swipe across, but instead it registers as a downswipe exiting the screen I was on. Other than the 2 issues I have with this phone, it's honestly great for the price. I'm disappointed with the camera sometimes, but that is coming from my previous phone's camera being so crisp and bright, and I also knew about it based on the other reviews I read. And the swiping issue can be annoying, but it is tolerable. Overall decent phone.

Update: I no longer close myself out of apps (except just now, bc this phone has a twisted sense of humor). Like any new setup, it just took a little getting used to. For example, I added a screen protector, not realizing it came with one already on it. I don't expect to upgrade for quite a while, but when I do, I probably won't even bother looking at other brands. OnePlus is the way to go - the Nord n30 feels and acts like a much more expensive device than it is. Original: I had never heard of the OnePlus brand until recently, but they seem to have a very good reputation. The Nord n30 kept topping the list of best lower-cost phones, so I took a chance and I'm so glad. My old phone was glitching a lot, basically acting like it was on the verge of total failure. I wanted to get something of reasonable quality, and fortunately, Amazon lets you pay in installments with no interest. That makes a big difference when money is tight, and at the holidays in particular. It's thin and light, and the screen is about as big as it can get without being ridiculous. That's perfect if you're 40+ and don't see as well anymore. The downside is that if you happen to have small hands, it may take some getting used to - it's just the slightest bit of a reach. The display is bright and beautiful, and it's super quick with no lagging. If you watch videos or listen to music you'll notice that the sound quality is amazing, particularly with earphones. I take a lot of photos, so the camera was important too. This one is very nice and I've gotten some excellent pics of the cat (and really, what else are cameras for?). I tested it on notoriously difficult holiday lights at night, and it did very well. Looking forward to landscapes and snow scenes. And more cat. The only thing that bugs me is I keep accidentally minimizing apps by swiping too close to the bottom where the functions are. That's something you have to acclimate to, but hopefully I'll get there soon. Overall this is an excellent choice if you want a high quality phone that doesn't cost half a month's rent.

First the performance, you won't get top tier performance out of the box, you have to tweak with some of the settings to get the best performance after setting it up. Once you do like I did, you get gaming, media, utilities at super fast speeds and fluidity. The screen goes up to 120hz which is basically a computer monitor in your pocket and the 6.7 inches of screen real estate was quite a shock of an upgrade coming from years of owning small expensive iPhones. Not to mention the transfer from an iPhone to OnePlus was super seamless, I had all my photos, messages, and passwords transfered without issue through the set-up screen. Which further shows how much thought and quality the Nord N30 5G truly is. The theme for this phone is called Oxygen OS which reminds me of the iPhone themes that you could only get by jailbreaking the phone and paying through a 3rd party software, they included a new interface, icons, and sounds that would cost money included with the proud ownship of this phone. Another surprising feature that is included is a thin screen protector that is always protecting the phone, so you don't have to buy another one if you want to buy I recommend it so that you can protect the screen protector because it is very thin and can scratch with regular use. The screen itself is incredible as well, I mentioned the 120hz screen but to see the colors and brightness even on lowish settings at night it is very bright for a screen, my old iPhone could not do that. On top of which, if you have a sedan or a more modern car that has a touch screen console, you will find that android auto is far better than apple carplay. The compatibility with the Nord N30 and your car is so great, the interface that you get with Android auto is much superior than carplay, so much so that carplay looks like child's play when in comparison. Overall a 300$ underdog of a device, that offers premium features like no other. OnePlus has does done a huge favor for people that aren't looking to spend 999$ on a new device. Ty for the incredible phone.

I love it and would love to give it 5 stars... except every time I am on a phone call if I try to do anything on the phone (like check a text or open an app) it ends my call. No warning. No sounds. The other person thinks they got put on hold. But for me the call is just gone. It's not my service, it's the device. If I make a call on discord I can do whatever I want. But regular phone calls? Can't do a single thing. There are so many other features I love on the phone. The battery life and charging speed even without the fancy fast charger is great. The extra loud volume is an awesome feature. But it's a phone. If it can't even function as a phone we have a serious problem. Update September 2025: changing my rating to 1 star. The call problem has gotten even worse. Frequently I will go to answer a call and as soon as it connects, the call hangs up. Even more fun, it only hangs up on my end. For the caller it's silence. Then when I call back it looks like they have 2 calls from me active. If they try to call me back it is a recurring problem. Eventually the phone tells me I have more than 2 active calls and can't make another call until I end one (which is impossible since it ends the calls before I even answer them and my screen shows no active calls). I bought 2 of these phones and they both have this issue. Discord voice calls work fine. The phones calling me only have this problem with me. I've tried every update, setting, whatever. Do not buy this phone.

I'm done with overpriced "flagship" phones by Samsung and Pixel and their planned obsolescence issues. I've been using smartphones since 2012 and they used to easily last me 3 to 5 years - like they'd have to physically break or drown in the toilet to stop working entirely. Now I'm lucky if their phones don't completely brick in less than 2 years from some ridiculous, super common problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. How do you get *worse* at making hella expensive phones? /rant I did a ton of research on this phone, and the brand in general, so after my most recent Pixel (I still haven't forgiven them for that camera "update") died, I ordered this phone. This is my first experience owning a OnePlus phone and it's absolutely lovely. It's sleek, it comes with a scratch resistant screen protector already applied, and it's unlocked so I was able to just put my SIM card in the slot and go (and it has a 2nd SIM card slot). The camera is noticeably better than the last several phones I've owned, but I've read that some people aren't happy with it. It's 5,000% better than my most recent phone, but YMMV. The phone's user interface is simple, functional, and intuitive. It's an android phone so if you've ever owned one, you'll acclimate to this phone quickly. If you're picky about your phone experience, you can always install a launcher and icon pack that you prefer. It's also compatible with Gboard. I have small girl hands but this phone has not been overly difficult for me to use after I put a pop socket on the back. It's about the same size as an older Samsung Note, like the S8, but lighter and slimmer. Overall, I am very happy with this phone. I'm glad I finally took the plunge and bought it. The one thing I'm concerned about is a lack of regular future android updates. So is it the greatest phone of all time? Probably not, but it's awesome and much cheaper than the ones I wasted so much money on over the years.

Schwer enttäuscht. Dieses Gerät ist extrem fragil und ist nach einem einzigen Sturz aus Kniehöhe, sitzend auf einem Bahnsteig restlos kaputt gegangen. Ich habe es kaum einen Monat besessen. Der Reparaturservice konnte es auch nicht wiederherstellen. Nicht nur die Batterie, auch die Hauptplatine ist bei dem Sturz aus 50cm komplett kaputt gegangen. Ersatzteile sind nicht zu beschaffen, da sie mit enorm hohen Kosten verbunden sind. Der Hersteller hat keine Niederlassungen in Deutschland, so kann ich also auch nicht von der Garantie Gebrauch machen. Die Webseite ist *sehr* benutzerunfreundlich und weist Kunden ohne das genau richtige Modell ab. Niemals dieses Handy kaufen, wenn man sich ein ansatzweise robustes Gerät wünscht. Die "Stereo"-Lautsprecher funktionieren außerdem fehlerhaft. Der untere Lautsprecher ist wesentlich lauter als der obere. Man muss über Accessibility Options die Balance auf den linken Kopfhörer verschieben, um ansatzweise einen ausgeglichenen Stereo Sound zu erreichen. Dies führt aber dazu, dass einige Höhen besonders laut sind.
