Review: Healing proponents are very good, safe, and effective. - This shampoo was a first-time purchase in mid-June (2026), it was immediately used thereafter and it is now late July. The shampoo is used in conjunction with a couple of Japanese hair products which are used as a second round of shampooing in the shower. Uncertain whether the product would be effective for reducing the plaque buildup on my scalp, to-date is has indeed lessened them and the areas most deeply impacted are healing very slowly with general use of this shampoo together with some other products. Very happy with the results and would recommend it for those suffering from longtime issues associated with the scalp. The shampoo is unscented. A clear gel like shampoo but lathers little. Excellent product.

**Q: How do you use this in combination with the other coal tar stuff do you use one one day and the other stuff another day??**
A: I tend to use a salicylic acid shampoo first and then follow-up with a coal-tar shampoo (which are not linked to skin cancer, according to NIH, and other relevant studies).

**Q: Can you use on color treated hair?**
A: It doesn't say anything about using on color treated hair on the packaging or bottle. But there is a website, www.MG217.com for any questions.

**Q: How is this different from other Salicylic Acid shampoos?**
A: I'm not sure if it has a more concentrated acid content, but the MG217 is a good brand. Both their coal tar and salicylic acid topical ointments have worked for me. Patches that I have had for over 3 years have disappeared with those 2 ointments. Personally I didn't see as much progress with this shampoo as I do with homemade apple cider vinegar shampoos, but I did see some results. It did make my dandruff worse though. It would be worth a try because different people react differently to different solutions. Their other products have worked wonders for me.

**Q: So after washing my hair with it what else show i use ??**
A: It can be little drying, so I use conditioner that is gentle on your hair avoiding roots.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective for buildup, but better as an occasional treatment

This product does help loosen and remove flakes from my scalp. The results were especially noticeable during my first few uses. However, after using it several times in a row, the itching and flaking would return by the following day. Because I have seborrheic dermatitis and a very sensitive scalp, I have learned that removing flakes is only part of the issue. Salicylic acid can be useful for exfoliating scalp buildup, but frequent use feels too aggressive for my particular scalp. I now use this product occasionally and balance it with gentler, more moisturizing shampoos. It is a helpful product when I need to remove visible buildup, but I do not expect it to manage an inflammatory scalp condition by itself. If you have a diagnosed or persistent scalp problem, it is worth discussing your routine with a healthcare professional rather than relying on one shampoo alone.
