Would this be able to support a canon dslr?

It cannot handle weight.. I verified with my Canon 70D, but the tripod head forced down.

When I use the remote to record a video, it keep stopping the video recording at about 3-3.5 minutes. Is there a way to fix that? Thank you.

Same, except the disconnection happens immediately. The remote connects to the photo mode. When switched to the video more, it automatically disconnects, stopping my video, makes my Android go to photo mode and then reconnects. Don't know what to do.

Is it long enough to also work as a selfie stick?

Sorry, it is not that long, you may wrap the tripod leg around something to take photos.
