He ended up switching to other hobbies as most kids do, so I didn’t want to waste the beautiful art supplies. It led me to start to look into learning to draw myself. It’s been over a year now, and I’m now sketching portraits. (Can’t believe im hearing myself say that out loud and knowing it’s true about me!) I’m seeing now the purpose of each pencil and love having a kit that brings to life what you’re trying to draw. The pencils have held up wonderfully! Sharpening doesn’t eat away at the available pencil left to work with. I definitely suggest this set for beginner or intermediate artist. Once I’m a pro, maybe I can come back and give my two cents from a professional perspective.

What an incredible tool set!!! I bought these for my son when he was learning to draw. He ended up switching to other hobbies as most kids do, so I didn’t want to waste the beautiful art supplies. It led me to start to look into learning to draw myself. It’s been over a year now, and I’m now sketching portraits. (Can’t believe im hearing myself say that out loud and knowing it’s true about me!) I’m seeing now the purpose of each pencil and love having a kit that brings to life what you’re trying to draw. The pencils have held up wonderfully! Sharpening doesn’t eat away at the available pencil left to work with. I definitely suggest this set for beginner or intermediate artist. Once I’m a pro, maybe I can come back and give my two cents from a professional perspective.

Best set of sketching/drawing pencils i own. Full range of hardness and shading. Works well with 3 darkest Matte pencils from Fabre-castell to serve every need you could possibly need. Much less expensive than “Blackwing” and feel the same to me.
