Can i have two DJ lights sync'd in music mode without a dmx board? i have them in master/slave mode.

It should. you have to have the master unit set to "corresponding mode". The manual can help you.

Is it portable? The irregularity of the venues we perform at will involve transit.

Yes, the packaging is pretty good with foam cotton cushioning to keep the product from being damaged. It was a very good shopping experience that We purchased 6 DJ lights for our show.

Will the lights come on without music? Do I need more than one controller?

YES.There are several modes to choose from. One controller is sufficient to control several moving head stage light machines.

How many lamp beads it have? Can it be hung up? How about its lighting effect.

Hello, 12 high brightness lamp beads. There are two mounting brackets to choose from for different needs, either one can be selected. The stage light effect is shown in the attached video.
