Review: Seems identical to OEM - so far it is working well - This was NOT an easy repair. There are 4-5 fatal mistakes you can easily make that will result in a damaged or broken screen, or broken wiring. The trick is heat, and lots of it. I had to heat the iPad edges up for nearly an hour while very carefully coaxing the edge of the glass free from the body of the iPad. Pros have special tools for this job, including high-powered heating pads. Unfortunately since these 1st gen iPads are so old now many places no longer repair them. If you are very careful, and do your research - and above all take your time and have a TON of patience, you can do it. I have a lot of experience fixing things (including full automotive restoration work) - and this job took me almost 3 hours start to finish. This battery fit exactly in the case and the power connector aligned correctly. So far it's working great and saved a perfectly good older iPad from the e-recycle bin. Don't forget you will also need a replacement set of edge adhesives for this job. I used ASIN number B09FFSD385 (search for it in desertcart) and it worked well.
Review: The battery is good quality, the install is tricky. Here are some tips - If you are considering doing this replacement yourself, get ready to spend 2-3 hours, watch a few videos first, and go slow. I performed two replacements using these batteries and both were successful so it is possible if you have the patience. You will need the following: - this kit or other battery kit with the tools - some electronics adhesive. I used some 2mm device adhesive vs a precut kit because I find it easier to lay down short pieces of adhesive vs dealing with a single large piece - some semi rigid pieces of thin plastic. I use playing cards. These will help keep the screen separated from the frame while you are carefully working your way around AND ensure your battery is fully disconnected before you start pulling cables - a heat source. You have to heat up the adhesive around the edge of the screen to be able to safely remove it. I use a heat gun, but people also use heat pads - a tray for your very teeny tiny screws. I recommend getting something that is magnetic so you can catch the little guys and keep them grouped up by location you pulled them from - magnifying glasses or stand. This is optional but highly recommended. Your are going to be removing some screws that are extremely tiny so being able to zoom in, makes that much easier - patience. Lots of patience Important tips I won’t go through the whole process as there are great videos you can watch on YouTube, but there are some key things your should know in advance. 1. Watch your depth when breaking the adhesive: you are going to be using a metal guitar pick from this kit to break the adhesive between the screen and frame. Just past the adhesive in some spots are extremely thin and delicate flexible cables which are very easy to accidentally cut. If you cut one of these, you could brick your iPad. So only push the metal pick in 1/4” or less 2. Heat is your friend: as you work the pick around, keep reheating the adhesive. You will want it soft so that you are not having to push hard on the pick and risk it breaking through to cut one of those cables. My heat gun is numbered 1-10 with q0 being the hottest and I did this job at a 6 3. Insert the playing cards as you go: as you get a section of screen lifted away, gently insert the playing card to hold that area open. Otherwise the screen will pop back and adhesive will grab it again 4. Leave the Home button edge until the end: The most delicate area is the edge with the Home button. This edge has two cables closest to the edge that are easy to cut. If you cut these, you are buying a new screen. Once you have the other edges up and “shimmed” with playing cards, warm up this edge and be very careful not to over penetrate with the pick. 5. Separate the battery connection completely: once the screen is off and disconnected, you will remove the screw that hold the battery connection. This is not enough to ensure you won’t create a short. Insert a playing card between the two parts of the battery connection to ensure you won’t fry your iPad. Lots of videos on this too, but worth mentioning. Good luck!

### ⭐ This battery is NOT good. It drains quickly and is worse than the original battery
*by J***E on June 27, 2026*

Alright, so it's been 7 months since I bought and installed this battery. I don't ever leave reviews but I felt like I had to. I did everything the instructions said, including letting it drain, charging, draining, blah blah, all that stuff that you're required to do when you start using a new battery. This thing sucks and is worse than the original battery that I replaced that came with my 2015 Macbook Pro. It was good for maybe a month? And then slowly started to suck. I use my laptop for browsing Reddit on the couch while vegging out and it lasts maybe a half a day and drains QUICKLY. Sure, I'll open up Word and write some stuff, so yes, I "use" my laptop but not for big tasks. FIND A BETTER BATTERY. This one is not good at all.
