Easier to slide pens with rubber grips. Not great on super slick plastic covers.
I bought these because I use pens with rubber grips and the rings are much easier to slide in and out of but pens don't fall out on their own. The only drawback is the clip part used to attach to notebook. If you have a smooth plastic cover, it slides off somewhat easily. I had to include some pages in the clip to give it a better grip and something thicker to hold on to. Also it's a little bit short. If it was slightly longer, it would be be easier to clip to the back cover so the pen can rest right next to the pages on the side you open instead of sticking out from the top. I have mine clipped this way and it stays on but just barely.
