My wife and I were looking for something to help our 5 year old GSD with early hip issues. Every time he laid down for more than ten minutes, he’d get up achy, stiff, and in pain. He wouldn’t go up steps without serious cajoling and he wouldn’t let our other dogs near him at night especially when all he wanted was to rest. He is young, but with the GSD propensity for hip issues, we wanted to be proactive and I found this supp through Instagram. Combined with a careful diet, just giving him a little of this daily has turned him around completely. He is rarely if ever stiff (unless he’s been sleeping for hours on the the wood floor), he attacks the steps each night at bedtime, and he just seems more youthful and energetic. Because of that success, we started giving it to all our dogs to give them a better quality of life. If you’re looking for something to help with hip and joint issues, this is an outstanding product to try.

So i decided to do a little experiment and stopped using all of the back 40 suplements I use and then restarted about a month later. Wanted to see if there was a noticable differences. Well it pretty much blew me away. I intitally started the Kelp because my dogs have very bad breath and twice now ive noticed the bad breath goes away after 2-3 days of use. In the long term my vet went from telling us "we might need to schedule a cleaning soon" to "they dont need one yet we can definatley put it off a while". Added bonus its stinky and the dogs love it. Genuinley an all rounder great for them and they seem to like it.

I’ve been using this product ever since it launched. A jar lasts a long time for my 35lb pup. I like that it adds a hint of vitamins and minerals to her food. I even share some with a husky with a mild thyroid problem and they’ve both tolerated it well. With Jack and Cowboy, I know the quality is pure and safe for my dog.

We love the back40 sea kelp supplement. For being a street rescue, my dog is pretty picky. So I wasn't sure he was going to like it. He loves it and if I forget to put it in his food I will definitely notice it when he hasn't touched it. So naturally we put in another order when we began to run low. The "sealed for your protection" cover was opened and the cap was loose. There was loose sea kelp in the box. Amazon won't take the return and I'm not sure I want to use it since the seal is broken. Other than that I do love their products.

My dog's breath started to smell better within a day or two after starting this, even though she didn't have stinky breath. Even better, her teeth are so clean now (the main reason I got this)! She loves the smell and taste, gets so excited when I open the jar and gobbles her food with no problems. Her skin and coat look even better and her belly doesn't get upset like it used to, another plus since she has always had digestion issues.

I really love the company as a whole and I’ve bought this supplement previously. It works and only requires a small amount needed for large dogs (I have 3) and this canister lasted a long time. I would definitely recommend it to someone looking to improve their dogs coat health.

We have been using sea kelp for plaque control for several years, in addition to proper brushing and dental scraping 2x a year. The previous brand we were on initially caused some stool issues and was a bit pricey for the small quantity we got.BACK 40 Dogs' Kelp is AWESOME! You definitely get your money's worth with the size!! There was also no adjustment period required, my boy did well on it straight away. I love that both the pumpkin and sea kelp powders came with the appropriate corresponding measuring spoons (tsp for kelp and tbsp for pumpkin) for proper dosage administration. I know everyone most likely has measuring spoons, but it's nice to have separate dedicated ones just for the pup. About 2 1/2 weeks into feeding the kelp daily I saw noticeably less plaque on Milo's back molars and what ever plaque was left came off super easily in one cleaning!Plus the owners of this brand are super kind and wonderful to their customers. I am a huge advocate for supporting small businesses, especially when they have great products and care about their community!

Kelp is high in iodine which an be dangerous in breeds predisposed to hypothyroidism. Do not let the relatively small serving size mislead you to believe this product is safe to feed your dogs. The disclaimer to consult veterinarian first is NOT enough.We all know the critical dangers and foods to avoid at all costs. While this product advertises as a safe option meant to promote a healthy dentition, it fails to acknowledge the danger of ingesting HIGH LEVELS OF IODINE. If your dog’s breed is predisposed to endocrine related issues - AVOID THIS PRODUCT.My dog was losing his hair at a rapid rate, while he already has alopecia in some spots, I first noted this as a usual occurrence. Perhaps he was just more stressed over the past month. He then started having other symptoms of Hypothyroidism.
