It's supposed to be cruelty free. Seventh Generation ads guarantee that their products are never tested on animals (nor human being) but I know none independant review on this point.It's likely to be true as this Company could risk a lot if this assertion were false.

Does it contain sodium hydroxide? or hypochlorite?

Here are the ingredients. water, lactic acid (plant-derived pH adjuster), caprylyl/myristyl glucoside (plant-derived cleaning agent), xanthan gum (plant-derived thickener), abies balsamea (balsam fir) extract, citrus aurantifolia (lime) oil, cupressus sempervirens (cypress) oil.
