EP50GRTJ : Cold Water Storage Tank Insulation Jacket for Loft/Attic Large Tanks - LARGE up to 122 x 61 x 61cm / 48 x 24 x 24"

I purchased this online because I was unable to purchase replacement insulation locally. Insulation was only sold in conjunction with a new tank.The jacket consists of mineral wool sealed in two plastic bags. The larger bag is wrapped round the tank and secured with thin plastic ties. The other bag covers the tank but because it has no rigidity it requires support or it would interfere with the ball valve. My tank had no lid so that I had to make one of plywood before I could use the jacket Also, if it is necessary to cut a hole in the insulation, for a pipe the edges need to be sealed with suitable tape. . It was the best product that I could find, and it is good enough for the purpose, but not ideal in my application of it.

Imagine a duvet inside a cover, or a floppy piece of material inside a cheap plastic bag. If you smooth out the material inside the bag and lay it flat it's fine. If you try to place this along the side of a water tank however the material falls to the bottom. What a pain this insulation proved to be ! Why can't they attach the wool to the inside of the plastic bag ? Eventually after a lot of hassle I managed to fit both jackets to my two tanks. The instruction state the tape should not be too tight as this will compress the wool and make it less efficient. If you don't do this the wool drops down to the bottom of the bag. The jackets are fitted now and I think they'll be okay but I wouldn't buy them again. If there is a next time I'll try to find some sort of rigid insulation that you can stick to the side of the tanks with double sided adhesive tape.

Not happy with it because:1. There were cuts in the plastic around the insulation that looked as if the product.2. Despite being told to leave so the product could expand it did not appear to do so.It should have been checked before it was dispatched in my view.However I decided to use it rather than go through the struggle of trying to change it because now I was thinking even if there are no cuts in the plastic with the next one do I still have a low quality issue. I have two larger tanks still to lag and I have decided not to buy them this way.

My search was for a Jacket to suit a cylinder tank, this one populated whith a desirable price.The Jacket is only suitable for a square tank.

The reason for 4 star rating is that I have an old style water tank which seems to be oversized for current standad large tanks. I added a bit more insulation to one side to solve the problem. Would certainly deal with this seller again and highly recommend them.

I decided to purchase this product because I was fed up with my original Jablite polystyrene insulation falling apart and needing re-pinning.This product was easily assembled and fitted and should do a far better job than just bare polystyrene covers pinned together. It also looks far more professional and I am confident that both the main tank and expansion tank will never freeze up.

Thickness of Jacket is very thin. I had considerable trouble finding a jacket in the first place and was pleased to find one on Amazon, however I would have preferred to pay more for a better jacket. The person who installed the jacket (plumber) also remarked the tie to go around the jacket was not very good.

Excellent item, actually used this one to insulate my round cold water break tank in the loft and it works extremely well, just needed a bit of wood placed across the top of the tank to stop the square lid from drooping in. would buy again.
