I read the Bacchae over 50 years ago in a graduate class on Greek tragedy. The notes I took have long been lost, so the book makes it so much easier to re-read one of my favorite Greek tragedies in the original. Where was Geoffrey Steadman and his likeminded followers when I was a student?
